Worked as written for windows server 2016 r2 and redhat 7.3. My user had a windows 2016 system in place and then wanted linux. Since it only had a single raid 0 disk in place, the only optino was to shrink the windows partition, then perform all the changes in this document... rebuild grub and it worked! Thanks for saving me time and headaches...
Note: when i chose the new partitions i created a simple partition on the windows side, unformatted and no drive letter as the linux installer didn't see it without this. In the installer there is an option top format the new partition which i did for the boot using ext4. thats the only difference I think in how i completed this versus the video.
Hello sir. I dual booted windows 7 and RHEL 7.3.. Your procedure worked perfectly well but then if i boot into windows, i cannot see GRUB again in next boot and system auto boots into windows.. I can only see GRUB as long as I use RHEL 7.3... Can you help me to solve this
LEGACY mode sir and i got it worked out... Thanks to one of your previous replies to Vivek Reddy.. I set makeactive to windows 7 and now i can see on everyboot. It throws an error "cannot find makeactive command" but still it boots. Thanks man. You're genius and life saviour. Will post any doubts if required.
I've followed all of your steps..but while creating create partition automatically in i will configure partitioning option i get an error of "you have not defined any root partition"..help me to solve this...thanks in advance :)
+Nehal J Wani yes it worked i have created /,/boot and swipe partitions from minitool partition manager and installed linux successfully by assigning path on them... but while loading linux i did not get the option of switching between 2 linux loaders and also after following your steps for enabling windows bootloader i am not seeing the windows boot loader in starting menu..any update?

1: Are you sure you are following the right video? If Windows is installed in Legacy Mode, only then follow this video. Otherwise, follow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAFwX3P6CJY
2: :wq works after pressing escape inside vim.
i installed redhat 7 with windows 10 and now windows 10 wont show up
everytime redhat comes up
tried to add option in redhat as per your video but still not able to see windows 10
when I check fdisk -l it comes with UUID and no name so can't predict which one is windows partition
also mine is GPT disk
I have already created a empty drive in windows 10 of size 25GB.
And I have .iso image of RHEL 7.0
Will this work by following your steps on the video?
Also if there are any changes to be made then pls let me know...
Am having two hard disks.(Disk 0, disk 1)
my disk0 is having windows 10 and windows7 as dual boot!
and now i have installed RHEL 7.0 in my disk1 by following your video.
everything is going well except the below step
after finishing RHEL installation it asks for reboot but when i do it is directly booting into windows.. i cant see the grub for booting into RHEL.
What should i do now?
Thanks in advance :)
Hi Nehal Thank you for this video I have seen this video and completed all steps and windows 8.1 worked properly but There is a problem when we free space from any partition then this will goes to GRUB Rescue mode.I think grub file is corrupted. Is there any permanent solution for this or Please tell commands for rescuing from GRUB. Thank You.
+Deepanshu Agrawal It depends on which partitions you perform these operations. If you move a partition, or shrink it, or something else, you mess up with the GRUB configuration, because it doesn't match and hence give you a rescue prompt.
