what is the difference between root and home directory
Hack The Heck (1 month ago)
In simple words, a root directory is a place where all system files are saved and a home directory is a place where you can save all your personal files.

I dont understand why big companies use Redhat as opposed to something like ubuntu. What can be done in redhat that can't be done in ubuntu? I'm a pretty seasoned Ubuntu user. The company i work at uses mostly ubuntus. But i still don't understand what is so special about redhat.
RocketLR (2 months ago)
+lemnisgroucat linux aha thanks, I appreciate that you took time to actually give an elaborate answer!
lemnisgroucat linux (2 months ago)
it is not about something you can or not do, ubuntu is designed for average computer user and is based on debian( which is a very stable linux os),the point is that the purpose of redhat is to work for redhat company(they put in place servers workstation and maintain them, go on redhat website if you want to see =) ) if you want just an os for your laptop you can use fedora, same as redhat but develloped for everyone and a bit in advance as redhat (kind of prototype if you want), other difference is that most part of the linux distro dispense package in order to install softwares (.deb for ubuntu linux mint or debian, .rpm for fedora centos or redhat and .tar.gz for archlinux manjaro ) the thing is that you download a package and you compile it for your computer architecture in order to get an executable binary file (that a clever organisation which allow you to install package even if you have an arm processeor for example(raspberry)) and the source and the version of the package is the major difference between the operating system, debian for example receive the same package as archlinux two years later, i don't think i am clear sorry ! and i have a bad english sorry +1 :)

Hi, I am a newbie on Linux and I want to become RHCSA Certified. I do like this course very very much. Thank you for that. The only thing is I am having trouble watching this in 720p because the text on the screen for me is unreadable, even in 720. I am wondering when the course will be uploaded in 1080 so I can better see the commands you are typing. Again, Thank you for this great course and the efforts you and your team are putting into it.
Rob Knoll (2 months ago)
+Hack The Heck Please do, it's pretty rough reading the screen sometimes, though your vocal instructions are making up for it.

The most important thing about learning Linux or another OS. If a person only knows one OS they really know very little about computers. My mind was blown when I started using Linux in 2002.
Hack The Heck (3 months ago)
Great, I have started my journey of Linux in 2009
Hi, and thanks for the video. Is the redhat linux a must in order to complete this course? Or it will be the same for any linux?
Hack The Heck (3 months ago)
Nope, Redhat Linux is must
