Articles - a, an & the - English Grammar lesson Take the quiz - http://www.learnex.in/articles-a-an-the/ The 3 articles in English are a, an and the. The learner has to decide noun-by-noun which one of the articles to use. In fact, there are 4 choices to make, because sometimes no article is necessary. Native-speakers, of course, use the articles correctly without thinking. English learners, on the other hand, need to have some guidelines for making the right choice - particularly those learners whose own language does not have articles. The guidelines that follow in this lesson should help ESL students to a basic understanding of English article use. The words a, an and the are known as articles. • We use an before words that begin with vowels (a,e,i,o,u). E.g. I found an orange boat. However there are few exceptions like the words honest and hour. In the words honest and hour the alphabet h is silent and therefore the letter o becomes the first alphabet of the word and hence we use the article an. E.g. Mr. Smith is an honest man. I will be with you in an hour. We use a before words that begin with consonants (all the letters of the alphabet except the vowels). E.g. Bumble is a baby elephant. • We use the before words that we have already spoken about. E.g. I bought an apple. The apple is very sweet.

Science Explains How Much Sleep You Need Depending on Your Age

09:21
How to Get Enough Sleep for Your Age. People usually think that 7–8 hours of sleep is enough, but that's not always the case. In fact, the number of hours you need to enjoy proper sleep depends and stay healthy depends on your age. Follow some simple rules to restore energy and get the most out of your recharge time. What happens when you experience a lack of sleep 1:09 If you constantly feel sleepy, are easily irritated, feel exhausted during the day, or often yawn, you most likely suffer from sleep deprivation. Not getting enough sleep also increases the risk of developing the following problems and diseases: exhaustion, depression, changes in hormone function, cardiovascular diseases, visual impairment, and diabetes. How much sleep is needed for your age 3:44 Scientists have established the connection between age and the required number of hours a person needs to have a good night’s sleep. Newborns 0–3 months old need about 14–17 hours of sleep daily. If you're the parent of a 1- or 2-year-old toddler, make sure they sleep for no less than 11–14 hours every day. Kids from 6 to 13 years old still need more sleep than adults: 9–11 hours. Young adults of 18–25 years old need less sleep: just 7–9 hours every day. The same can be said about adults between 26 and 64 years of age: 7–9 hours are enough for them to rest. Elderly people older than 65 sleep even less: 7–8 hours a day. Each person has individual needs, which may change these numbers. People who are sick, stressed, or, on the contrary, extremely active need more sleep to recharge. How to get enough sleep and feel refreshed every day 5:36 Fall asleep and wake up at the same time every day. A fixed schedule will regulate your body clock. Don't overeat, have tonic drinks before bed, and avoid cigarettes and alcohol. Create a cozy and comfortable atmosphere in your bedroom. The temperature in the room shouldn't be higher than 75ºF. A short walk in the fresh air before going to bed will help you fall asleep more quickly. Try not to use gadgets before going to bed, and turn off electrical appliances at night. Even if you aren't tired, you still need to go to bed at the same time every day. If you're lucky, you'll fall asleep after a short while. Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS Lack of sleep 1:09 Age and sleep 3:44 Sleep improvement 5:36 SUMMARY -Being sleep deprived negatively affects the quality of future bouts of sleep. Not getting enough sleep weakens your immune system and can have serious consequences. Your emotional state can also be affected by a lack of sleep. -Scientists have established the connection between age and the required number of hours a person needs to have a good night’s sleep. The older a person is, the smaller amount of sleep recovery they need. -Fall asleep and wake up at the same time every day. Don't overeat or have tonics at night. Choose a comfortable bed and quality bedding. Try not to use gadgets before going to bed, and turn off electrical appliances at night. Avoid naps if you have problems with sleep. Do You Really Need to Get Your Wisdom Teeth Pulled?

06:39
Wisdom teeth come out between the ages of 12 to 25, and some doctors recommend having them removed. But is it necessary? Do we really need to get our wisdom teeth pulled? In some cases, there is absolutely no need to remove your wisdom teeth. If they don’t interfere with the normal functioning of neighboring teeth, it means that your mouth is big enough to accommodate all four of your wisdom teeth. The same is true if they’re straight and not at an angle to their neighbors, which can create hard-to-reach places for bacteria to grow. If there isn't enough space in the mouth and all adjacent teeth are already snug as it is, the erupting wisdom tooth brings the risk of damaging the nearby teeth. In this case, it’ll cause pain in your whole mouth and problems with chewing! Poor oral hygiene because of stuck food in wisdom teeth that didn’t’ fully come in can cause a large buildup of bacteria, which can lead to even more problems like oral cavity diseases. Most dentists agree that the younger you are when you have your wisdom teeth removed, the better. After you turn 25, all the bone tissues have formed completely. This means that the teeth are more difficult to remove, and the surrounding tissues heal more slowly. After you’ve had your wisdom teeth removed, the best post-op diet for you is milkshakes and ice cream. These foods are soft and cold, which is good because it soothes the pain. TIMESTAMPS When you DON'T NEED to have your wisdom teeth pulled 0:46 When you NEED to get your wisdom teeth extracted 1:18 Can you keep your wisdom teeth? 2:55 What to DO after the surgery 4:14 What NOT TO DO after the surgery 4:55 Fun facts about wisdom teeth 5:25 Music: Closer - MegaEnx is licensed under a Creative Commons license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/) SUMMARY -You don’t need to remove healthy fully grown wisdom teeth that stand straight and don’t interfere with the normal functioning of neighboring teeth. -In case they’re completely hidden under the gums and can’t erupt through the surface, didn't fully come in and there isn't enough space in the mouth and all adjacent teeth are already snug as it is, the erupting wisdom tooth brings the risk of damaging the nearby teeth. You should also remove wisdom teeth if tumors have formed, there’s inflammation in the gums and tooth decay. -There's nothing wrong with keeping your wisdom teeth if you regularly visit a dentist and get x-rays of your jaw. In this case, you can learn about a potential problem, like improper wisdom tooth growth. -After the surgery, exercise the jaw by opening and closing your mouth. Eat soft foods like soup, pasta, mashed potatoes and so on. Drink lots of liquids. Start brushing your teeth only the next day after the surgery. Do it very delicately. -Do not smoke, don’t be too active and harsh while rinsing your mouth. Do not eat sticky or hard food. It can disturb or scratch your wound. Do not drink through a straw. -35% of people are born without wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth are the only teeth that aren't formed in the womb. 10 Ways to Survive an Earthquake, According to Experts

08:41
Find out how you can save yourself and protect your family in case of an earthquake. These survival hacks are important for all of us, even if you don't live in an area with a lot of seismic activity. No one is 100% safe from this disaster because you never know where you might be traveling or living in the future. So pay close attention to these safety recommendations that could save your life one day. Fortifying your house is a good place to start. Make sure you have enough supplies, including food, medications, fire extinguishers, batteries, and flashlights. Have an expert test your house’s foundation so it won’t slip during an earthquake. Depending on where the earthquake finds you, you should follow different survival rules. The most important thing in all cases is not to panic and to memorize the Drop, Cover, and Hold on technique. Drop right where you are onto your hands and knees. This is a safe position that allows you to slowly move towards shelter. Use one arm to cover your head and neck. A massive desk or table makes a good shelter. If there’s nothing in the room to hide under, at least stay away from the windows. Remain in this position and bend over as much as you can to protect your vital organs. Hold on like this until the shaking stops. If you were able to find some shelter, hold onto it using one hand and be prepared to move with it as it might shift. Music: Versace Beat https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS Make your house your fortress 0:34 If you’re in a building 1:51 If you’re outside 2:58 If you’re in a car 3:24 If you’re on the beach or near the shore 3:50 If you’re in a wheelchair 4:10 If you’re in a stadium 5:00 If you’re in an elevator 5:25 If you’re in bed 5:59 If you’re trapped under rubble 6:25 Overall evacuation rules 7:15 SUMMARY -Be prepared for disaster: move all beds away from windows, strengthen shelves, cover all glass surfaces, keep extra fire extinguishers, batteries, flashlights, emergency food supplies and medications in your home. -Drop right where you are onto your hands and knees, use one arm to cover your head and neck. Hold on like this until the shaking stops. -Move away from power lines, tall buildings, and roads, try to find some shelter, drop, cover, and hold on. -Slow down and find a safe place to stop the car, stay in it until the earthquake stops. -Collect your things immediately and move to higher ground to avoid tsunami. -Lock your wheels, cover, and hold on. -Get on the floor in the space in front of your seat, bend over and cover your head and neck with your hands. Stay calm and reassure others. -Lie down on the floor, cover your head, wait until the elevator starts working again and get out of it ASAP. -Stay in bed, protect your head with a pillow and lie face down, move away from shelves. -Don’t move, cover your mouth with a cloth or piece of clothing. If you have a whistle, use it so that rescuers can find you. -Close all windows and shut off the gas, water, and electricity in your home. After leaving the building with only the most necessary things with you, find a safe place. Whatever happens, don’t panic. 10 Survival Skills That Might Help You Out One Day

07:58
Bright Side made a list of movie-like tricks to get you out of trouble and into action. From getting handcuffs off to encoding messages – we have a lot of awesome tricks for you. We live in a crazy time when everything is possible. Indeed, you never know when something unexpected can come your way. But when it does, you’d better be prepared. TIMESTAMPS Getting handcuffs off with a match 0:40 Hiding valuable things 1:13 Getting out of zip tie handcuffs 1:49 Imitating drinking 2:26 Using a mirror to spy on someone 2:57 Sending a secret message 3:35 Making a dead drop device 4:27 Setting up a door monitor 5:02 Creating a coded message 5:41 Waterproofing matches 6:25 SUMMARY - There is a way to help you get any handcuffs off, whether for a nice magic trick to impress an audience or if you ever find a real need. The only necessary tool is a match. Slightly flatten it (your teeth will do the job just fine). Stick it right into the hole in the handcuffs. - If you have a stash of money or valuable documents you need to hide, here is an easy DIY idea for you. All you need is a chair, a hammer, some nails, and rubber bands. Flip the chair upside down, and hammer nails into the chair in the form of a box. Slightly bend the tips of the nails. Stretch the rubber bands as shown in the picture, and slip your money underneath. - You’ve probably seen people using white plastic zip ties as handcuffs. They squeeze the hands really tightly, and one would assume that it’s impossible to undo them unless somebody cuts them off. Not so fast. You can easily get rid of them. Lift your hands above your head, and then quickly pull them down and open your arms at the same time. - If you ever feel uncomfortable drinking a certain something in the presence of people you just met who seem suspicious, there is a way out. Just imitate drinking and don’t swallow the liquid. - You can try using a CD with a reflective surface to see what’s going on behind a closed door if you feel like something bad is happening there. Get on your knees next to the door and put the CD on the ground through the door gap. Adjust the edge of the CD to get the right angle, and you will see what’s going on on the ground and in further parts of the room. - Write your message on the paper with the white crayon. It will look totally blank. When someone needs to read it, they can simply color over it with the marker. The message will magically appear! - When spies have some sensitive information for their ally, they make “dead drops” out of the most ordinary items. They just have to be large enough to fit a piece of paper or a USB drive. You can make a regular bolt your dead drop if you are good with tools, or pick something easier like a flowerpot for this function. - If you ever need to check whether somebody has been in your room but you have no fancy gadgets, just get a tape and some string. Simply tape a piece of string, so it hangs slightly above the door. When someone closes or opens the door, the string will get stuck between the door and the threshold. - If you need to send a coded message, you can use a simple reflect method. Just write out the letters A to M in a single line. Underneath the A to M line, write out the letters N to Z. Then simply change each letter of your message to the opposite letter of the two lines. “Hello“ will become ”uryyb." - To waterproof your matches using wax, let a candle burn for a while or melt some old wax chunks. Then, dip your matches in this melted substance deep enough to cover more than the head of the match. Once the matches cool down, scrape the extra wax off the matches’ heads with your fingernail. The fingernail option might be a bit easier – you just have to paint your matches from head to toe or just the tips with it, or dip them into the bottle. 25 Etiquette Rules Every Lady Should Know

07:11
In the age of gender equality, some may consider “ladylike” or “gentlemanly” conduct old-fashioned, snobbish, or just plain unnecessary. But there are still those of us who want to show sophisticated and refined behavior. In this video, we’ll tell you about all the rules of ladylike behavior that are necessary to know in order to be revered by those around you and make your life more comfortable. And for the gentlemen out there feeling left out, you can learn from some of these too! TIMESTAMPS When you have guests 1:03 When you are a guest 1:18 In a restaurant 1:42 Communication rules 2:37 Table manners 3:00 General rules 3:58 Public coatrooms 4:27 Car etiquette 5:05 - If guests come to your home for the first time, show them where the bathroom is so they can freshen up. After that, you can invite them to join the others. - Bring a small gift for the host. It doesn't have to be anything expensive. Try a bottle of wine, a box of cookies, or perhaps something for their vacation home or hobby. - If you need to brush your hair, do it in the ladies' room. Nobody wants to find a hair on their plate or on the table. - Don't forget about etiquette rules at home. For instance, it’s rude to shout to another person from a different room. Besides, you might get used to doing this, and it’ll make guests feel uncomfortable. - Don't take forever choosing the best piece of food on the serving plate. Take the nearest piece to you. You wouldn't want to give the impression of being selfish and greedy, would you? - If you’re on a low-sitting chair, don't cross your legs. Hold your knees together and lean them to the side. This is called “the Duchess Slant”. You can, however, cross your legs at the ankles, also known as “the Cambridge Cross”. Are there any other etiquette rules you consider really important? Then tell us about them in the comments section! SUMMARY So if you feel that you’re a real lady inside but are just a bit confused by all the intricacies of proper behavior, don't worry! Etiquette rules are quite simple if you just give them a try and incorporate them into your lifestyle. Plus, let’s be honest, no matter what gender you are, nobody wants to come off as uncivilized or rude to others! I Decided to Sleep for 4 Hours a Day, See What Happened

12:29
One of the Bright Side writers decided to adjust his daily routine to leave only 2-4 hours for sleep! Do you ever think about how cool it would be if there were more hours in a day? You would easily have time for everything: work, hobbies, friends, and family or just lazing around doing nothing at all. But enough dreaming, let's get back to reality. The only way to make it happen is by sleeping less, but would that actually work without turning you into a tired grouch? TIMESTAMPS Where did the idea come from? 0:50 Day 1 2:48 Day 2 3:20 Day 3 3:46 Day 4 4:15 Day 5 4:55 Days 6-7 5:41 Days 8-10 6:20 Days 11-14 6:55 Pros of polyphasic sleep 7:30 Cons of polyphasic sleep 8:46 My thoughts after the experiment 9:48 SUMMARY If your life is like one big to-do list that you just can't seem to keep up with, then polyphasic sleep is probably for you. All jokes aside, I definitely became more productive, and I have a lot of spare time that allows me to do everything I want and even more. On the other hand, it can be difficult since the whole world is on a completely different regimen. Your friends and family might think it’s weird when you tell them you can't go out with them or ask them to pause a movie so you can take a nap. In any case, it's your choice to make. Just do your homework first, and then go for it! If this sort of dramatic change isn’t for you, don't worry! There are still lots of things you can do to improve your productivity. 15 COOL DIY ORGANIZERS FOR CHILDREN

07:52
COOL DIY ORGANIZERS Mike, my sweet nephew and I had fun building this LEGO desk organizer. The drawers really open and close, and we included a charging station for his iPod. The basic concept of this design is so simple, and you could make all kinds of variations to organize different things – coins, marble collections, minifigure parts, school supplies, rubber bands, paper clips, magnets. Possibilities are endless! The sizes of the drawers will be limited by what flat pieces you have on hand. Each drawer is one single flat brick. We used smooth flat bricks along the bottom of the drawer opening to make the drawers slide in and out. The drawer handles are attached to bricks that have studs on the front. Each drawer opening also needs bricks for the drawer to rest on. We also used smooth flat bricks on the top of each drawer. It’s not necessary to go around the entire drawer with smooth pieces – we just used what we had. Mike has this on his desk now, but unfortunately it will be a temporary build as it used SO many of our basic bricks! We’ll have to take it down and free up the pieces eventually. But it was enjoyable to build, and the fun of LEGO is building something different every time, anyway! It is awesome to take some recycled milk cartons and make a nice desk organizer. This desk organizer is a great space saver to put away kids’ stuff such as pencils, crayons, scissors, and small accessories. It is super easy to make and you can be sure that everything will be organized and looking nice on the desk. You can use your favorite wrapping paper or fabric to create your own style. Happy crafting! Here are the supplies you may need: Empty milk cartons; Craft knife and scissors; Ruler; Wrapping fabric or paper with colors and patterns of your choice; Glue; Ornaments (optional). Thoroughly wash and dry the inside and outside of the milk cartons. Cut the milk cartons in half in a tilted way as shown in the video. Now you’ll have two identical storage boxes from the cut out milk cartons. Connect the higher sides of the two boxes and secure with glue. Measure the sizes of the boxes’ sides and cut out some milk carton pieces with the same sizes. Create some fabric pieces to wrap the milk carton pieces and secure with glue. Please note that the fabric pieces should be slightly larger than the milk carton pieces in order to wrap them. Glue the wrapped pieces to the outside sides of the boxes. This will help to reinforce the desk organizer. Create some fabric pieces to cover the inside sides of the boxes. Use ornaments to decorate the desk organizer. Place pens, crayons etc. inside the desk organizer. Here you go! If they become too annoying, we usually get upset, and everything ends up in anger and headaches. There is a small funny tip to help you. Just drink a cup of green tea and go to bed! - We are happy to share the secret: the “4-7-8” exercise can help you. 12 Dangerous Android Apps You Need to Delete Immediately

09:37
Pay attention to the list of the most suspicious apps you may come across in Google Play. Delete them from your phone immediately to protect your personal data and extend the life of your phone. Their creators promise the apps will optimize your device, extend the life of your battery and protect your phone from viruses. Some of them are even supposed to be lie detectors and defragmentation devices. In fact, all they give you is ads, and what they do is get access to your data and kill your battery. Considering the huge number of apps created every single day, not even Google can keep track and check the safety of all the new programs. So the security of your device mostly depends on you! They can only analyze how much space certain programs take up, use your phone's resources and collect your personal data. -You will want to delete this app because it consumes tons of data since it’s full of ads and causes a massive drain of your battery. -Battery savers and fast chargers can’t really change the speed of your gadget charging, but can give you endless apps even on lock screen. -If you don't want these apps to get access to all your data, avoid them at all costs. Light Weights vs Heavy Weights for Muscle Growth

06:33
Conventional wisdom has us convinced that high reps and light weights builds muscle endurance and makes little contribution to gains in muscle mass. However, is this a valid perspective? Well, to determine if heavy and light weight training cause different effects, we need to look at the research. After reviewing the research out there, it seems that using heavy or light weights actually doesn’t matter much in terms of hypertrophy. Studies show that muscle growth tends to be equal despite using light weights or heavy weights (high rep vs low rep). But this is only true when going to near failure, and one benefit of lifting heavy weights is the better strength gains you see when compared to light weights. Based on this, as you’ll see in my video, your best bet is to incorporate high reps with light weights AND low reps with heavy weights into your workout. This will enable you to target both metabolic stress and mechanical tension; both are important mechanisms of muscle growth. 15 Strange Things That Seem Normal Only In South Korea

10:42
South Korea is a dream travel destination for many, an absolutely fantastic culture, a country of contrasts, where modern technologies and ancient Eastern traditions harmoniously combine into something totally unique in and of itself. Every journey to this amazing country reveals countless new secrets and mysteries. These crazy yet amazing facts South Korea might astonish you. Photo credits: https://m.pikabu.ru/profile/AdaKwon (2:57, 3:49, 4:41, 7:44) People in Korea really love practical gifts like this and especially ones that can be eaten. For example, management at one South Korean company presented their employees with food baskets. The Korean New Year usually takes place in January or February, depending on the time of the second new moon after the winter solstice. South Korea is home to the most visited church in the world with a parish consisting of over 1 million people a year. There's an established gift-giving culture in Korea with certain rules. For example, big gifts to teachers or public officials are considered bribes. And when somebody visits your home in this country, you can be sure that they’ll bring a drink, dessert, or fruit. In Seoul, there's a subway train dedicated to a comedy animated series called “Larva”. It runs on the green line 8 times a day and features two of the cartoon’s main characters in every car. Koreans are not very familiar with Western traditions, and they don't even have geography at school. At the same time, they'd be happy to tell you anything you want to know about K-pop singers and bands. You need to be attentive, and when you see the bus you need, you have to signal for it to stop. -In the majority of Korean supermarkets, there are unlimited samples for you to test. -A traditional gift at a housewarming party is a few rolls of toilet paper. -Koreans celebrate “Seollal”, or “New Year”, for 3 days: the day before, on, and after the New Year. -Each kindergarten has a specific uniform in a certain color so that kids don't get lost in the crowd during fieldtrips and walks around the city. -About 4 times a year, big churches arrange free visits to dentists and hairstylists for their parish. -Elementary students have classes from 9 AM to 6 PM, middle-schoolers go home at 10 PM, and high-schoolers sometimes have to study until one in the morning. -Couples use social media to brag, have cute little celebrations every 100 days, and even arrange romantic vacations almost every month and display their “in-love” status with the help of matching outfits. -South Korean parents and children like to show their gratitude to a teacher by giving them candy or a cup of coffee. -There are lots of themed subway cars dedicated to certain cartoon characters. -Koreans practically never listen to music or watch movies from other countries. -Modern Korean cuisine is really healthy. They usually eat grilled meat (without oil), a lot of vegetables and plants, and rice. -You won’t find any trash bins on the streets in South Korea because the people there are super tidy. -Office workers are now required, by law, to turn off their computers on Friday evening. Prepositions are short words (on, in, at) that usually stand in front of nouns (sometimes also in front of gerund verbs). Even advanced learners of English find prepositions difficult, as a one to one translation is usually not possible. One preposition in your native language might have several translations depending on the situation. There are hardly any rules as to when to use which preposition. The only way to learn prepositions is looking them up while reading a lot in English and learning useful phrases off by heart . In this lesson Rachna brings out some prepositions rules ( in, on, at ) in relation to time.

15 MACRAME IDEAS FOR KIDS

13:13
COOL MACRAME IDEAS FOR HOME There are many ways to make your home cozier. But when it comes to doing it without spending a truckload of money, suddenly, there are not so many variants. One of the most interesting skills for home decor is the ancient craft of knotting. You can easily learn it with our tutorial video. Using knotting and macrame, you can make awesome accessories from threads. For example, a cool snake bracelet, a cute Celtic knot bracelet or a comfy headband. Check out our tutorial for the necklace – you can't find it in a shop. The most awesome thing about this kind of accessories is that the more you make such things, the faster you make them because you acquire the necessary skill. Once you do a bracelet for you, make them for all of your friends. Macrame works perfectly for making cute rugs – you can try it yourself. There are many ways to make them – using pompoms, using chord, using old T-shirts. My favorite is the last one. It's a cool way to upcycle old things into something new and useful. You can also try making a flower pot hanger out of an old T-shirt. All you need is to cut it into long strips and have enough patience to do the knotting job. The coolest idea is making a blanket using only a thread and your hands. If you know how to knit, it won't be a problem for you. If you don't know how to knit, check out our tutorial and learn. Such blanket can decorate any interior! Tell us in the comments, which idea do you like most of all. 12 Things You’d Better Do at Night Instead of in the Morning

10:35
There are many things we do in the morning, because it seems like the perfect and only possible time for them. It turns out we make a huge mistake but you can avoid it if you follow some simple everyday rules. Note, there’s a bonus in the end of the video that explains how we can get good sleep with the help of a pencil. If you don’t eat a few hours before you go to bed, you won’t sleep well. Hunger often causes insomnia and if you go to bed without having dinner you’ll probably need a large breakfast. Evening strolls are proven to be good for health and they help cope with insomnia, according to National Sleep Foundation research. Thorough planning before bed will help you stay calm in the morning and perform all necessary actions step-by-step without wasting precious time and energy. The same is true for your outfit and lunch. Spend at least 10 minutes meditating before you go to bed. It’s important to concentrate your attention on your inner awareness. Reading is another great way to relax because plunging into a different world helps in getting rid of the stress from daily problems better than both tea and music. Brushing the hair before bed cleans away dead cells, dust, and skin fat. And a light massage with a smooth brush helps transport oxygen and nutrient rich materials to the roots. In the morning, you won’t need to style your hair in a hurry. Music: Geographer – Watch Me https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS Eating meat or cottage cheese 0:56 Walking 1:36 Thinking over an action plan for the upcoming day 2:18 Airing out you room 3:07 Preparing your lunch and outfit in advance 4:04 Doing yoga and meditating 4:42 Taking hot shower or bath 5:26 Reading something you want to remember 6:04 Eating a kiwi to sleep well 6:53 Drinking a glass of cherry juice 7:41 Brushing your hair 8:17 Analyzing the day 8:50 Bonus: a pencil can help cope with snoring and headaches 9:19 SUMMARY -It’s good to eat some meat or cottage cheese before bed because both products contain a lot of protein and tryptophan. -A stroll before bed will help you “step over” all the worries of the day and avoid insomnia and some other health problems. -Making your plans at night contributes to keeping your life in order. -Open the window in your bedroom at night to cool the air and help white fat transform into brown and improve your metabolism. -If you have your outfit and lunch prepared for the next day, it will save your time and nerves in the morning. -Evening yoga helps put our thoughts and emotions in order, relieve tension, and get us ready to greet the next day. -A change in body temperature during a hot shower creates an impulse in our body to fall asleep faster. A warm tub is actually a great way to cope with insomnia. -Your brain memorizes everything better at night. -Consuming 2 kiwi one hour before going to bed over the course of a month helps you fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly. -2 glasses of cherry juice before bed help you sleep nearly 90 more minutes a night. -Brushing the hair before bed cleans away dead cells, dust, and skin fat. -Studies show that doing a daily analysis before sleep is very useful. -During your free time, place a pencil between your teeth and hold it for 5-10 minutes. This simple exercise can help cope with snoring and also relieve a headache. Basic English Grammar: Parts of Speech – noun, verb, adjective, pronoun, adverb...

20:06
In this video, I will go over the different parts of speech in English. We will be looking at the use of nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs. You will also learn how to arrange them in a grammatically correct sentence. Also, I will teach you in what order to place the adjectives if you have more than one. For example, do you have a "big, white, excitable dog" or a "white, excitable, big dog"? Find out by watching this lesson and doing the quiz afterwards at https://www.engvid.com/basic-english-grammar-parts-of-speech/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. James from engVid. I would like to talk about something that will help you understand English, and it's two things. Number one are parts of speech. What are the parts of speech and how do you use them? The second is called syntax, which is a very complicated word for word order. Where do you put the words in a sentence? In some languages they have a different word order, some languages it doesn't really matter, but what my job today is, is to show you where the words go and: What do they basically mean-okay-in the parts of speech? As E said: "Words. Where do they go?" Now, if you're new to English or even if you're an intermediate student, sometimes this causes you problems. Right? You've heard the terms: "preposition", "determiner", "syntax", and you're like: "Oh, it's so complicated." Today's lesson will be simple. You can go over this again and again. It will help you understand and use English better. So I'm going to start off with the most basic part of parts of speech, and I want to start with the things part. Things. Not actions, but things. I am a person. My watch is a thing. Okay? An animal, a cat or a dog, or an apple, these are things. We call these things nouns, because nouns name people - Hi, I'm James; places - Toronto, Ontario; things - my watch; animals - a cat, meow; and food - an apple. Okay? These are nouns. Example: boy, dog, apple. Okay? Nouns name these things. But sometimes you don't want to keep using the same noun again and again. "James ate the apple and James walked his dog as James talked to his friend, Oliver, and then James..." It gets what we call repetitive and boring, and it also makes the sentences go really slow. And sometimes we want to use the noun in a different way. So in this case we introduce what's called pronouns. Pronouns can replace nouns in a sentence. So now you could say something like this: "James ate the apple and he walked his dog." Instead of: "James ate the apple and James walked his dog", we can use a pronoun to replace it and make it simpler. We still know we're talking about James. Now, we talked about word order or syntax. Let me explain this. In order to use a pronoun first you must use the noun. Okay? You introduce the noun and then you can replace it with a pronoun. That's why you see number one then number two. You cannot just start with a pronoun. If I started a sentence at the beginning: "He went to the store." The very first thing you will say to me is: "Who's he?" I go: "Oh, James went to the store and he bought the apples there." And you go: "Oh, now I know who he is." So, pronouns kind of number two because you have to actually introduce first with a noun, then you can replace it with a pronoun. Now, we have several types of pronouns. I'm just going to go over and show you a couple of them so you get an idea. Pronouns include: "I", "we", which are subject pronouns. Object pronouns when we're talking about something that's not us, but something on the other side that receives action, as a subject pronoun I do things. I run. Right? We eat dinner. We're talking to them. Now, when we say "them", you go: "What?" Well, they are receiving it and we call those object pronouns. Okay? So the most basic ones are subject and object pronouns. One is doing something, one is receiving. There are reflexive pronouns, like: "himself" where somebody is talking about themselves. "He built the house himself." So he's talking about him as an object, but reflecting it back to himself. We call it reflexive pronoun. Okay? There are others, but I'm not going to get into them right now because I want to keep this simple just so you know what the parts of speech are, and you can always come to engVid to come and see other lessons in which we go deeply into reflexive pronouns, object and subject pronouns. Okay? Cool. So we talked about how pronouns can replace nouns, and we're good with that. Yeah? So let's go to stage number three, because once you've replaced them, how do you know the difference between them? Apple, apple. I don't know. That's when we have adjectives. Adjectives. The word itself can be broken into two parts: "ject" and "ad". But remember... Do you remember when I said subject and object, and I gave you the example? I said, for instance: "I" is a subject pronoun. Right? Subject, yeah, I'm good at this.

Inspiration While brainstorming for ideas in the beginning, we kept finding that our concepts to implement crypto technology already existed in some flavor. Streaming service or ad replacement, chrome extension or a crypto exchange, multiple versions of each service exists. The missing link that we saw was a centralized location for the best available content so that a rookie can easily learn cryptocurrency, understand its benefits, make a wallet and even buy some coins. We wanted to help accelerate the adoption of cryptocurrency at all user levels. What it does At this stage, KnoEx is a portal that links newcomers to the crypto world through articles, guides, courses, news aggregators, a crypto exchange and even a video game! The goal is to increase market adoption of cryptocurrency through educational resources as well as incentivizing users to make their own wallets, which are needed to play our crypto streaming game which uses Web Monetization in order to stream money on Interledger. The website is split up into multiple sections. First, there is a landing page that contains a brief overview of our mission statement and what we offer users, followed by placeholder outside reviews of the service, and culminating with a newsletter subscription link that saves data from interested users to a database in Wix. This database can be easily exported or linked to a mailing service such as MailChimp to keep in touch with our users directly. The News page shows users a couple TED talks about cryptocurrency, and as TED talks are very approachable, they make it easy to draw in someone knew to the concept. Just below the videos are a couple fresh news links, pulled from a pre-existing WixApp to display topical news content. The Guide and Academy pages redirect users to content meant to teach them about various aspects of cryptocurrency and blockchain. The Coins tab provides multiple functionalities. First the user sees a table of data pulled from the CoinCap API that lists the 25 largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization and provides more detailed statistics about them, including realtime price trends and total market volume. In addition, there is a lightbox that pulls on the Changelly API to allow a user to instantly purchase cryptocurrency directly on our website. Finally, the Crypto Game tab (or CryptoClicker) is a group clicking game that rewards the winner with a little cryptocurrency, incentivizing new users to learn how to make and use a wallet. Multiple users open the page at the same time, enter their wallet information, and race each other to decrement a counter from 50 to 0 by clicking on it repeatedly. At the end of the game, the winner is rewarded using the Interledger protocols, allowing us to perform a micropayment as a reward without worrying about the type of coin that the winning user requested. How we built it The entire platform runs on Wix, making heavy use of WixCode to implement outside functionality. We often used Wix HTML Elements / iFrames integrate 3rd party libraries for our services. The main page, Guide, Academy, and News pages all used native Wix functionalities. The Coins page uses a CoinCap API through WixCode to generate a table with the necessary values and live updates. We created a lightbox within Wix that uses the Changelly API to power the purchase of cryptocurrencies for the user. Finally, the CryptoGame used another lightbox to create the necessary overlays. A separate room is created for the CryptoGame. For this game, which revolves around a mouse-clicker function to race between participates to get to 0, we integrate Web Monetization with Coil to stream money between users while the game is being played until one player wins. Through Coil and Interledger integration, we are able to pay our winners in Ethereum or Ripple, instantly and securely.

13 DIYs TO SURVIVE A BORING DAY AT THE SCHOOL

05:58
FUN DAY AT THE SCHOOL I decided that I am not going to buy a ton of calendars in 2019 In the end, I made this very easy, reusable calendar that I’ve already been waxing on and off all day long. Since every month runs a bit differently, we’ll need to have 5 weeks total on our calendar along with the 7 days of the week. Take each piece of paper and cut five 2.5 x 2.5 inch squares. In the end, you’ll have 35 squares total, 5 of each of the 7 colors. If you don’t have the same size frame, you’ll need to bust out your ruler and figure up the math for what size will work for you. Remember that you’ll have 7 across and 5 down (plus the days across the top). Also be sure to include approximately 0.25 inch spaces to go in between each square and 0.5 inches on the outside near the frame. Trace the back of your frame onto a piece of foam core board. Cut along your marks and ensure that it will fit inside of the photo frame. Trim if necessary. Take your yardstick and draw a line along the bottom edge of your calendar – also mark the center along that line. Mark the center of the middle (Wednesday) block and line up along the straight line and with the middle mark for the board. Put a strip of double stick tape and adhere. Work out from the center to the left and right attaching your 6 other squares, lining up with your pencil drawn line. Draw a straight line up the side and place your squares along that mark, eyeballing spacing along the way. Continue attaching each color, drawing a guideline for each for proper placement. When finished, pull up and replace any squares that appear out of sync with the others. The double side tape should easily come up and lay back down for little tweaks. Since the days of the week are always in the same order, we’re going to mark them across the top. Take your 2.5 inch wide strip of paper and slice off 1 inch of each color so that you have seven 2.5 x 1 inch rectangles in each color. Use a permanent marker to write on the days, use double stick to adhere above the squares for the days. Put your foam core inside of the picture frame and seal up. Use a dry erase marker to add the dates and info onto your board. You can put the month on any squares that aren’t being used. Best of all, easily erase any events or dates that change by wiping off. No muss, no fuss! Kitchen Organization Ideas | Kitchen Storage Ideas | Kitchen Tips

07:06
In this video, I am going to share few tips to organise your kitchen. And will share my favourite kitchen organisers which can turn your kitchen super organised and easy to work on daily basis. 1. Use stair organiser to keep spices and condiments. This organiser keeps all the bottles visible and organised. 2. For top shelves of the cupboard where mostly our hands don’t reach use lazy Susan. 3. Get revolving Spice rack to save space. 4. Use Spice container to keep all daily need spices, salt and masalas. 5. Use Corner Shelve organiser to keep your Non-stick and Tawas segregated. 6. Get Plastic laundry basket to keep your monthly groceries. 7. Use folding rack plate organiser to utilise vertical space efficiently. 8. Similarly, over the cabinet baskets help to utilise vertical space efficiently. 9. Use corner shelve organiser to keep crockery. It fits perfectly in the corner of the cupboard and again helps saving vertical space and keep things segregated. 10. Get mesh magazine holder to keep chopping boards and trays. 11. Keep small baskets and holders to organise your snack cupboard. Categorise items and place them in baskets. 12. Always use cubical shape food containers instead of round shape. By using cubical shape containers, it is easy to stack on top of each other and it saves front and side space also. 13. Keep plastic, glass and steel food storage boxes on top of each other with the lid on as when in need you don’t have to fiddle around to find the exact lid of the container. 14. Get section box to keep miscellaneous small items like candles, food sticks, pizza seasoning and ketchup pouches. It will help to keep your drawer organised and items will remain segregated. 15. Must haves in the kitchen are these Ziploc bags and clips. Ziploc bags will help food stay fresh and these clips are very useful to tie opened snack packets and bread. 16. Get a small whiteboard in the kitchen to write your grocery and vegetable shopping list. 17. Get carry bag dispenser to store all those small poly bags which comes with the vegetable, fruits and grocery shopping. 18. Get over the cabinet rack to keep your cleaning supplies. It can be easily fit any cabinet and can be shifted anywhere as per the requirement. 19. Get plastic drawer system to keep small kitchen items segregated. Why is it that an Alzheimer's patient can act like an Alzheimer's patient while with the caregiver; and then, act so normal when an outsider is introduced into the communication dynamic. Dr Jekyll and Ms Hyde? The Alzheimer's Reading Room is the number one source of high quality expert information for the entire Alzheimer's and dementia communities. The goal of the Alzheimer's Reading Room is to help everyone to better understand, cope, and communicate with a person living with dementia. Alzheimer's Reading Room - https://goo.gl/6Ydc4B One of the things that can be really hurtful to caregivers is the ability of their loved one living with dementia to change behavior like a chameleon changes colors. The caregiver can "vent" over and over about how mean or how difficult their loved one is to deal with each day; then all of a sudden, the loved one changes into a nice person when an outsider comes into the picture. What happens - in this situation - the caregiver feels violated. Violated because the patient makes the caregiver feel like a fool. Topic - The Importance of Socialization in Dementia Care In other words, when the patient turns all of a sudden very nice to an outsider (usually a family member, a caller, or even the doctor). the caregiver feels like no one can really understand how they feel; and, what it is really like to take care of someone living with dementia on a daily basis. We, the caregivers, often tell outsiders how difficult the person living with dementia can be - sometimes all day long. Then all of the sudden the person living with dementia starts to smile and act like everything is wonderful. They start acting like what might be called - "a normal person". Topic - How to talk and communicate with dementia patients By the way this can go both ways. For example, the loved one can go to adult day services (adult day care) and thrive and have a wonderful time; but, as soon as you pick them up they start to complain that they don't "ever" want to go back. This of course is stressful and hurtful to the caregiver who is trying as hard as they can to bring the highest quality of life to their loved one living with dementia. Article - Are Alzheimer's Caregivers the Forgotten? Why is it that an Alzheimer's patient can act like an Alzheimer's patient while with the caregiver; and then, act so normal when an outsider is introduced into the communication dynamic. Dr Jekyll and Ms Hyde? It sure seems like it to most of us. Topic - How to Adapt the Caregiver Brain to Alzheimer's and Dementia ______________________________________ You might take a positive from a situation like this if you give it some thought. If the dementia patient can all of a sudden become a nice person why not use this to your advantage! Topic - Alzheimer's Care and the Importance of Thinking Positive Here are 2 examples of how I did it. At night time my mother would start to get that dull, "I'm not here", look on her face. I immediately knew that this meant trouble. Trouble for me, stress, anxiety, and heartbreak. In other words, our day was going to start going really bad. What did I do? I used my sister, Joanne, who I came to think of as a communication magician. I would get my sister to call my mom. There you go, outsider, a person living outside our home. Joanne could talk to Dotty on the telephone and within minutes turn Dotty back into a "nice" person. Dotty would get all animated and get into a phone discussion with Joanne that can only be described by one word - normal. When Dotty would get off the telephone she literally changed into Ms Hyde. So one of my suggestions when a person living with dementia becomes difficult to deal with is to get someone to call them. Topic - How to Get a Dementia Patient to Cooperate Try to remember that this deceiving change that dementia patients undergo is a normal symptom of Alzheimer's and related dementia. Environmentalists Are Ignoring the Elephant in the Room: US Military Is The World’s Largest Polluter

07:08
Trigger Warning!!! This channel runs on facts, evidence & intellectual honesty! Tread cautiously!!! Last week, mainstream media outlets gave minimal attention to the news that the U.S. Naval station in Virginia Beach had spilled an estimated 94,000 gallons of jet fuel into a nearby waterway, less than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean. While the incident was by no means as catastrophic as some other pipeline spills, it underscores an important yet little-known fact – that the U.S. Department of Defense is both the nation’s and the world’s, largest polluter. 12 Things to Know If You Like Sleeping Naked

09:41
A lot of people choose to sleep naked simply because they find it more comfortable. But sleeping with nothing on has science-based health benefits, and, on the contrary, can cause your trouble you probably didn’t know about. A survey of 1,500 people aged 25 to 55 in six different countries showed that only 30% of us sleep naked and the rest prefer to stay in their underwear or in some comfortable pajamas. One of the most obvious reasons to sleep with no clothes on is to get deeper shut-eye. Sleeping naked is a good way to keep your skin cool without changing the temperature of your bedroom. By skipping on the sleepwear, you give your body, especially the parts that tend to sweat more than others (like your feet and privates), a chance to breathe. A woman’s genitalia can be an ideal breeding ground for fungi and bacteria. Sleeping nude helps keep this area cool, dry, and ventilated, reducing the risk of developing a UTI or a yeast infection. For men, tight-fitting underwear overheats the testes and can affect semen quality and reproductive health. A lot of people, women in particular, usually feel self-conscious about their bodies, even if the supposed “flaws” they have aren’t actually there! When you embrace your body just the way it is, you exude confidence in whatever clothing you decide to put on it. If we get overheated at night, our stress hormone levels stay high. Plus, our human growth hormone that’s responsible for cell-renewal isn’t released at all. So your body panics and chooses to store fat instead of burning it. If you’re among the 3% of people that sleepwalk, don’t throw away your pj’s! There have been tons of cases where naked sleepwalkers had problems with their neighbors and even law enforcement. If your skin is really sensitive, sleeping naked isn’t for you either. Never forget that a good night’s sleep is essential for your health and well-being. Plus, it has an anti-aging effect. -Sleeping in cooler temperatures means less sweat and beautiful stronger hair. -To keep your privates happy and healthy, never sleep in your underwear. -Sleeping naked helps you become more confident in your own skin. -Sleeping in lower temperatures boosts metabolism and prevents the progression of diabetes. -Skin-to-skin contact, which releases a huge amount of oxytocin, or the “feel good hormone” is crucial for a happy relationship. -Getting rid of pajamas altogether can help you save money you’d otherwise spend on them. -If you’re among the 3% of people that sleepwalk, don’t throw away your PJ’s. Imagine all the discomfort it can cause when you’re not sleeping at home. -Exposed sensitive skin can cause problems like allergic reactions, skin irritation, and asthma due to dust and bugs. -The temperature drops at night, so it’s important not to be exposed to excessively low temperatures if you’re prone to catching colds. -If you feel uncomfortable sleeping in the nude or if you’re worried about your kids or roommates barging into your bedroom unexpectedly, you won’t sleep soundly because of your anxiety.
