US Sanctions Doubles Russia & China Gas Deal

03:30
"Russia and China are due to sign a long-awaited gas contract on Tuesday, in which Beijing could pay up to $456 billion for Russian gas over the next 30 years. While Russian President Vladimir Putin visits Shanghai on May 20-21, Gazprom and the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) are due to sign a deal for 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas to power China's growing economy, starting in 2018. The timing is almost flawless as Russia is looking to shield itself from Western sanctions by pivoting towards Asia, and China desperately needs to switch from dirty coal to more environmentally friendly natural gas. "The arrangements on export of Russian natural gas to China have nearly been finalized. Their implementation will help Russia to diversify pipeline routes for natural gas supply, and our Chinese partners to alleviate the concerns related to energy deficit and environmental security through the use of 'clean' fuel," President Vladimir Putin said. "Of course Russia wants to sell gas and resources at the highest possible prices. But because of the sanctions from European partners, we need to find a partner that can buy our gas long-term, which is why at the moment China looks very attractive to us," Aleksandr Prosviryakov, a partner at Lakeshore International, a Moscow-based asset management firm, told RT at a Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) in Moscow ahead of the big meeting on Tuesday. On Sunday, Gazprom chief Aleksey Miller sat down with his CNPC counterpart, Zhou Jiping, in Beijing to discuss final details, including price formulas. Siberian pipeline to China But the sticking point is how to finish the pipeline from Russia to China. Currently there is one complete gas pipeline that runs throughout Russia to the Chinese border, "Siberian Power" which Gazprom broke ground on in 2007, three years after Gazprom and CNPC signed a strategic cooperation agreement in 2004. The pipeline stretches across Russia's Far East and after extension to China, it will deliver gas to the country's populous north, near Beijing. Gas could be delivered via Vladivostok, Russia's eastern port city on the Sea of Japan, or through the city of Blagoveshchensk, an landlocked city in the Amur region. However, to finish the project for 2018 delivery, Gazprom and CNPC need to come to an agreement on how to finish the proposed portion of the pipeline into China, which could cost between $22-30 billion, according to various estimates. Russia wants China to either pay or issue a loan for the project, which has been a delaying factor in talks. In 2009, Beijing and Moscow signed a deal that Gazprom would supply China with 30 billion cubic meters of gas a year by 2015, but via the Altai pipeline, which would deliver gas to China's Western Xinjiang province. Russia stopped work on this project in 2013 and prioritized the 'Power of Siberia' line. If and when both pipelines are activated, Russia could be pumping 68 billion cubic meters of gas annually to the world's second largest economy. China, the superpower Home to nearly 1.5 billion people, China's demand for energy is rising faster than ever. In 2014, the country expects to increase natural gas imports by 20 percent, and import 186 billion cubic meters annually. "This deal with Gazprom and cooperation with Russia shows that China is expanding, becoming bigger and bigger, and that this part of the world is dominated by China, India, and Russia, the US role is shrinking," said Aleksandr Prosviryakov. "China is the fastest growing economy. China is the biggest market in terms of volume and value. China is the next superpower and number one economy in the world," Peter Panov, Chairman of Triotoni, a Singapore-based investment firm, told RT at the CACCI conference in Moscow. Russia's Deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Yanovsky has said the deal is 98 percent ready. China has kept quiet on the subject. Europe remains Russia's largest energy importer, having bought more than 160 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2013. However, recent tensions over Russia's actions in Ukraine have forced European ministers to rethink their dependence on Russian gas, a sentiment that has been openly voiced throughout the continent "Now is the time for Russia to compromise a little bit so that they can lessen their dependence on Western Europe as a buyer of Russian gas. Diversification is a strategy for Russia to have good long-term business relationships with both Europe and China," Benedicto Yujuico, president of the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry, told RT at an Asian business gathering in Moscow on Wednesday. "Needless to say, China is a very wise nation and will try and get the best out of both parties, and maneuver: give a little bit to Russia, and a little to the West," Panov said." - Courtesy RT News

The USA Tries to Redistribute the European Energy Market

11:34
Subscribe to Vesti News https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa8MaD6gQscto_Nq1i49iew?sub_confirmation=1 Despite sanctions and political games in the European energy market, Gazprom has broken one record after another this week. For the first time, the daily capacity utilization for summer exports to non-CIS countries soared to an unprecedented 635 million cubic meters. Such figures resemble peak winter periods. Gazprom is maximizing the use of export routes. The Nord Stream, Yamal-Europe and Blue Stream gas pipelines are operating at full capacity, except for the Ukrainian one. Europe, recovering from a recession, needs an affordable energy supplier, a demand which only Russia can fill, being the largest supplier of natural gas to Europe over the past 40 years. Gazprom made some arrangements beforehand to keep prices low and the delivery reliable. The long-distance Nord Stream on the Baltic bottom directly connects Russia and Germany, bypassing transit states, primarily Ukraine and Poland, who capitalized on the end user. Nord Stream-2 is to double the capacity. The transnational Yamal-Europe pipeline, passing through Russia, Belarus, Poland and Germany, increases the flexibility of supplies to Western Europe. The Blue Stream pipeline allows direct export to Turkey. And the Turkish Stream project, which is being built across the Black Sea to the European part of Turkey and further to the border with Greece, will supply natural gas to the countries of Southern and Southeastern Europe. All this is an example of a free market economy, something that Washington cherishes, or so they say. This week saw economic miracles, but not of the free market kind. A tanker with American anthracite left Baltimore to cover half a world and reach Ukraine. It costs twice as much as Russian coal and 3 times higher than Donbass coal. To spite Moscow, Kiev is ready to freeze and go broke. But Lithuania paid an even higher price for such a political energy provider. Klaipeda received the first tanker with 140,000 cubic meters of liquefied gas from the USA. The leadership didn't reveal the price, obviously, so as not to be mocked by the neighbors. But experts know it. Per 1,000 cubic meters, it's about $70-80 more expensive than Russian gas. All this economic senselessness is based, of course, on politics. Daria Grigorova will now discuss the American political economy for Europe.

RUSSIA, CHINA 400+ BILLION $US MEGA Gas Deal | Gas, Oil, Politics, Sanctions, Trade, USA

03:40
'West forgot to lock back door, pushed Russia into gas deal with China' May 20, 2014 RT. While the West imposes sanctions on Russia, Russia is making a deal with China as each has something to offer the other, David Kuo, CEO of the Motley Fool Singapore financial website, told RT. RT: We have not seen the papers signed just yet. We could be witnessing a possible delay. What issues you think could be behind this? David Kuo: Ultimately, price hinges on the asking price between the two sides. This deal has been 10 years in the making and ultimately what it really comes down to at the very end is how much China is willing to pay for the gas. We are looking at somewhere between $350 or maybe slightly less for 1,000 cubic meters of gas. We are looking at the deal that is worth around $400 billion over a 30-year period of time. We are looking at something that could generate for Russia approximately $13 billion a year. RT: This has been called an historic agreement. Why are we seeing China and Russia become so much closer on many levels? DK: I think it really boils down to these sanctions that the West has imposed on Russia. There is a saying, "If you lock the front door make sure that the back door is locked as well." In this case the West has forgotten to lock the back door. So whilst they actually impose sanctions on Russia, Russia is saying to the rest of the world, "You locked the front door, but I have a back door as well." And the back door in this case in China. The West has actually pushed Russia into doing a deal with China. So on the one hand, this is an economic deal. But on the other hand, it is also a political deal in which Russia is saying to the rest of the world, "If you don't want to buy my stuff, there is somebody else out there who is willing to buy my stuff as well." And we have to look at this deal in the context of these two countries. Russia has something that China wants - gas. China has something that Russia wants -- clean energy. When you put these two things together, we are talking about the win-win situation between the two countries. RT: India, Japan, North Korea are reportedly queuing up to be the next ones to sign economic deals with Russia. Talk to us about the shift in the global economic balance? DK: It is quite noticeable. What we are seeing is major powers here in the East saying they want to do deals with the rest of the world. If you look at India, India also wants what Russia has to offer [and Russia wants something that India can offer]. So you are looking at the sort of the major countries here in the East, particularly China which is the second-largest economy, but also India. India needs growth very badly. One time India and China were running neck and neck in terms of economic and expansion but that has slowed in the case of India, not in the case of China. In the case of India the economic growth has slowed to 4.6-4.7 percent, that isn't sufficient to sustain the Indian economy. Therefore India is saying "I need someone to help me spur this economic growth," and it is looking to Russia in this case and Russia can help. RT: What sort of reaction do you expect from the US and Europe to the talks? DK: That is a very interesting point. The West will slowly begin to realize that sanctions do not work, so therefore they will have to rethink their strategy and see if there is a better way in which they can get what they want in terms of a solution on Ukraine. Because ultimately this really hinges on Ukraine, and what they are saying is whether they can find a way in which they can find a better solution for that country. Because sanctions are not going to work. RT: Why, in your opinion, did China choose Russia as a partner for such a huge agreement? There had been other contenders before. DK: The thing is that China needs clean energy today. When you have a look at proximity of Russia and China - they are quite close geographically - and also in order to build a pipeline from Russia to China it is much easier to do so, than to build big storage facilities. We know that in the case of Australia there will be new gas supplies coming on stream. I think in some cases we are talking about the urgency of the situation. Russia wants to sign a deal very quickly, and it is willing to move on price. As far as China is concerned if it can get the price down to a level that it considers to be sustainable over long-term, then we will have this deal inked between the two countries. Exciting time for investors. [KEY: Big deal, China, Economy, Europe, Gas, Oil, Politics, Russia, Sanctions, Trade, USA]

Ukraine reportedly halts Russian gas imports but transit to Europe unaffected - economy

Shares of Russia's gas giant Gazprom fell on Monday as the long running dispute between Ukraine and... euronews, the most watched news channel in Europe Subscribe for your daily dose of international news, curated and explained:http://eurone.ws/10ZCK4a Euronews is available in 13 other languages: http://eurone.ws/17moBCU http://www.euronews.com/2013/11/11/ukraine-reportedly-halts-russian-gas-imports-but-transit-to-europe-unaffected Shares of Russia's gas giant Gazprom fell on Monday as the long running dispute between Ukraine and Russia over gas prices appeared to ratchet up again. Sources at Gazprom have told Reuters that as of Friday Ukraine halted Russian gas imports. They also said that the flow of gas to Europe via Ukraine is so far unaffected. The reports raised concerns of a new "gas war" breaking out between Moscow and Kiev. Ukraine has repeatedly complained it is being overcharged and has also said that it does have enough gas in storage to heat the country through the winter. This all comes just weeks before the former Soviet republic of Ukraine is due to sign an association and free-trade agreement with the European Union - a move that has angered the Russian leadership. Russia supplies around a quarter of Europe's gas needs with about half of that transiting through Ukraine. Countries in central and southeastern Europe, including Italy, get virtually all of their Russian gas supplies via Ukraine. Any prolonged shutdown of deliveries could hit hard as it did during a gas war in 2009 which left many homes and businesses without heat during freezing winter temperatures. *Buffer state* Ukraine has for years been a politically troubled buffer state between Russia and the European Union, and has used its status as a gas transit corridor to play Moscow off against Brussels. Now, as Russia builds alternative export routes, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich is seeking a rapprochement with the West even as it struggles to pay its import bill and its public finances become increasingly precarious. The supply worry comes at a vulnerable moment for Europe, whose second-biggest gas supplier Norway faces production constraints due to refurbishment works on ageing fields this winter. We learned on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Yanukovich had met in Moscow during the weekend. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: "They held talks, comprehensively discussed trade and economic relations of Ukraine and Russia." INDIA in Race for IRANs OIL Fields with CHINA JAPAN Korea

04:40
INDIA in Race for IRANs OIL Fields with CHINA JAPAN Korea . Race for IRANs OIL Fields between INDIA CHINA JAPAN . India's oil imports from Iran plunge over gas field row . India imports 3 times of Oils from Iran . Iran Exports Oil to India after Ban lift in 2016 . India is the 2nd largest oil importer of Iran . Iran Ban Lift . India's oil imports from Iran have fallen to their lowest since June 2016, shipping data shows, in possible retaliation for Tehran not awarding a gas field development to Indian companies. India, Iran's top oil client after China, shipped in 487,600 barrels per day (bpd) in May, about 9 percent less compared with April and nearly 40 percent less than a peak registered in October, according to ship tracking data obtained from sources and data compiled by Thomson Reuters Oil Research & Forecasts. Most Western-led sanctions against Tehran's nuclear programme were lifted in January last year, and India's Iranian crude imports began climbing two months later in March. In the fiscal year to March 2018, though, India has said it plans to order about a quarter less Iranian crude due to a snub over development of Iran's Farzad B gas field. "We stood by them in difficult times. We still buy substantial amounts of oil from them, and we expect reciprocity from Iran," Indian oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan told reporters on Wednesday when asked if India was still hopeful of getting the development rights for the Farzad B field. Following years of seeming rapprochement over the field, Iran has likely reached an agreement on the concession with Russia's state-controlled gas giant Gazprom, Russian and Indian media have reported. Iran last month said India had not offered an acceptable proposal on the Farzad B development. Sri Paravaikkarasu of energy consultancy FGE said India's lower Iran imports were a "reaction of Iran's decision to award the gas field to Russia and the availability of cheaper grades like those from Russia." India was one of four countries - China, Japan and South Korea being the other three - that continued to import large amounts of Iranian oil after sanctions were toughened in 2012. Some of the drop in imports from Iran may be due to lower demand. Overall, India imported about 4.2 percent less oil in May, compared with April, due to a shutdown of the 180,000-bpd Bathinda refinery for upgrades. In the first five months of 2017, India's oil imports from Iran still jumped about 64 percent, the data showed. Also In Money News While Iran's oil exports to India are stalling, supplies to Europe and Turkey hit their highest level since the lifting of sanctions in 2016. Iraq continued to be India's biggest oil supplier for the second month in a row in May, followed by Saudi Arabia. Middle Eastern oil in May accounted for 65 percent of India's overall imports, compared to 71 percent a year ago, while the import share of Africa and Latin America have risen, the data showed. The shift is likely a result of an effort led by the Middle East-dominated Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to cut production to prop up oil prices. Thanks for watching. New York Resident Oil & Gas Investment Losses Call 312-332-4200

00:59
Do you live in New York and were pitched an oil and gas investment sell? Those investment losses may potentially be recoverable through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) arbitration claims process. Unfortunately, many New York residents were heavily pitched oil and gas related investments, mostly because of the large fees and commissions that brokers generate from these sells. Many master limited partnerships (MLPs) pitched were in the broker’s best interest, and not the clients. Unsuitable investment recommendations, lying about the risks of the investment and active trading (churning) of these securities have had a devastating impact on residents of New York. Luckily, the arbitration process is an option for New York residents. If you lost money in oil and gas, please call our law firm today at 312-332-4200 to speak to an attorney. We take cases on a contingency fee basis only.

260-ton LNG tanks unloaded at JAXPORT's Talleyrand Terminal

01:00
Contractors at JAXPORT have securely fastened two, 260-ton cryogenic liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks onto their foundations at Crowley Maritime Corporation’s new shore-side fueling facility on Talleyrand Marine Terminal. The tanks arrived at Talleyrand aboard the BBC Chartering vessel, Moonstone, from Hamburg, Germany. Highly trained stevedores from port partner Seaonus loaded the tanks onto a specialty 26-axle trailer for transport to their permanent location on the terminal. Owned by Eagle LNG, the tanks will provide greener, more environmentally friendly fuel to Crowley’s Commitment Class ships, which are among the world's first combination Container- Roll-On/Roll-Off (ConRo) ships powered by LNG, under construction for the Puerto Rico trade lane. Jacksonville is leading the clean fuel revolution with JAXPORT tenants investing millions in ships and equipment as pioneers in the use of LNG as a preferred fuel source for the maritime industry.

Russia: Lavrov calls out ‘Western statesman’ for Yemen hypocrisy

03:30
The Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov stated that Europe has an ever growing awareness of "lack of alternatives to normalising relations" with Russia, while speaking alongside his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier at a meeting with students at Urals Federal University in Yekaterinburg on Monday. SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "Germany is our key partner not only in European affairs, but also in solving global issues, including the resolution of conflicts and efforts to counter international terrorism and extremism, that have challenged the world community. And here there can be no double standards, because, for example, the humanitarian crisis in Syria occupies a central place in the political rhetoric of Western statesmen, while the humanitarian situation in Yemen is carefully overlooked." SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "We see that Europe's awareness of the lack of alternatives to normalising relations and resuming existing cooperation formats is growing. We are receiving the corresponding signals not only from representatives of the public, from academic and business circles and regular citizens, but also from many politicians who understand that shutting down the NATO-Russia Council and freezing all the key mechanisms of cooperation between Russian and the European Union was a mistake." ¤W/S Audience ¤W/S Lavrov takes a seat ¤SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "NATO-Russia Council was frozen in 2008. And already by autumn and the beginning of winter our Western colleagues admitted that it was a mistake, adopted solemn declarations saying that the NATO-Russia Council should work in any weather, especially in times of crisis." SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "And now this mistake is repeated again. The NATO-Russia Council is frozen. The fact that a couple of ambassadorial meetings were held does not change anything. NATO does not want to discuss the restoration of relations. During the latest meeting last month we handed over specific proposals on restoring military cooperation, especially in terms of building confidence in this area." SOT, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister (Russian): "We are convinced, just like our European partners who are in cooperation with Gazprom, that it will help diversity gas routes to the European continent and that it overall matches the development program for European gas infrastructure that exists within the EU, complying with EU's main goal of creating an energy union. Its implementation [Nord Stream 2] will certainly be another contribution to the implementation of the agreements reached at the Paris climate conference." ¤W/S Meeting Video ID: 20160815-016 Video on Demand: http://www.ruptly.tv Contact: [email protected] Twitter: http://twitter.com/Ruptly Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Ruptly

Russian Gas: Pipelines, Politics and Money

04:17
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has warned Ukraine he will cut that country's gas supplies if it siphons fuel from export lines. Mr. Putin made the statement in Moscow following a meeting with Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann. His warning carries an implicit threat that Europeans this winter could again face shortages of natural gas they receive from Russia via pipelines through Ukraine. In recent years, European consumers have felt the impact of bitter Russian-Ukrainian payment disputes. It appears Ukraine continues to have problems financing its fuel imports. VOA Correspondent Peter Fedynsky examines the issue in this report from the Russian capital.

China willing to work with India to maintain positive relations, says foreign spokesperson

02:26
China on Monday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “positive remarks” on India-China relations at the Shangri-La Dialogue and expressed willingness to work with India to follow the consensus between the leadership of the two countries to maintain the momentum in the bilateral ties. Prime Minister Modi in his keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Asia’s premier defence and strategic affairs conference, last week had said that Asia and the world will have a better future when India and China work together with trust and confidence while being sensitive to each other’s interests. The prime minister said both India and China have displayed “maturity and wisdom” in managing issues and ensuring a peaceful border, adding cooperation between the world’s two populous countries was expanding. Welcoming Modi’s remarks at a media briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Hua Chunying said, “We have noted the positive remarks made by Prime Minister Modi on China-India relations. We highly appreciate such kind of positive remarks.” Recalling the informal summit between Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping at Wuhan in April this year, Hua said, “They had in-depth exchange of views on the international landscape and bilateral relations and reached many consensus.” “The two sides agreed to adopt a mature and wise way to properly handle differences,” she said. “China is willing to work with the Indian side to follow the guidance of this consensus to maintain the positive momentum of the development of bilateral relations, to promote mutually beneficial cooperation, properly handle differences, maintain peace tranquillity along the border areas and thus move forward the China-India relations,” she said. Modi and President Xi had met in April in an unprecedented two-day ‘heart-to-heart’ summit in the central Chinese city of Wuhan to “solidify” the India-China relationship after the Doklam standoff last year. Troops of India and China were locked in the 73-day standoff in Doklam after the Indian side stopped the construction of a road by the Chinese army in the disputed area.
