To create a select box we simply use the html5 document to create our markup for the select box. We will create three different select boxes using the "select" element and the "option" element for creating dropdown lists. To hide the default styling from the select element applied by the browser we will use the css3 appearance property and set its value to none. And then, we will use an another useful rule to hide the default arrows applied by Internet explorer 10; from the select box dropdown. THREE DIFFERENT METHODS THAT WE WILL BE USING Each select box will be using a different method for styling the dropdown arrow inside the combobox. - The first Method will show using an Image Background technique to create custom arrow for the CSS select box. - The second method will use the CSS border property to create a triangular shape that will be used to customize your select element's dropdown arrow. - Finally, the third method will use the fontawesome glyphicon to create our custom arrow for the selectbox dropdown. All, the method will have the cross-browser support for our custom css3 select box. Each method ensures that it works properly in the Internet explorer 10 or above and other older browser. How to Change the Navigation Bar Height CSS in Rockettheme's Gantry 5 Hydrogen Template
Subscribe Today! ► https://goo.gl/Y3wTy5 This tutorial shows how to change the CSS that sets the height of the top level navigation bar in the Gantry 5 Hydrogen template. Once you know what CSS changes you need to make you will need to put those same changes on your live site. The following tutorial will help you with that step: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkaBka2lJp8 I found out that since brackets are not allowed in YouTube descriptions, I could not post the CSS I said I would share during the video - sorry! In order to find the CSS that we're going to change to adjust the height of that navigation bar, we're going to be using Google Chrome's element examiner. So, I have the Basic Joomla site opened up here with the Gantry 5 template, with Hydrogen template, and I'm going to hit F12 to bring up the element inspector. What we want to do is click on this button here on the left to select an element and we're going to select somewhere up here on that menu bar. That's probably a good guess there since its selecting the whole thing and we'll look down - now we have the elements on this side and what their properties are. Now, as I look over on the left-hand side here in this code you'll see that there's a number of other options in the hierarchy here and I want to just keep highlighting till I get to the element that still is at the top and select what we want. This one "g-container" it goes right across the top but I don't see anything in here setting the same color that is there, so I go up one higher to "g-navigation" to the section. That still highlights right across and when I look over here I see here's the background color that is set. So this is probably the CSS that we want to change. So I'm going to type by just clicking here to add a new line to the CSS to test it and type "height", hit enter and then I'm going to type 40 and we'll do 40 pixels (PX). And we'll see right away, as soon as I finish typing the X, this top bar has the height that is lower. So the next thing that we want to do, though, is we need to find some other CSS to change because as you can see the white of the home menu there is a different height as well. So first of all, before moving on I'm going to left click and select this HTML because you're going to want to put that in our custom HTML page in the Rockettheme template. I'm going to copy that and we'll put it over here on another screen - I just have a notepad open - and here I'm just going to paste that CSS there and we'll get ready for a new line to paste the next things. Alright, so the next thing that we want to do is somehow change the height of this white. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go slowly down through the HTML levels here until only that white is highlighted. I might actually get the point where I run out but here this arrow you see we can click and go to the next level. We'll highlight that - there we go we've got it. That's the active menu. So, when we click on that, look over here and we'll see here the background white color is being set there for "g-navigation, g-main nav top-level" so once again I’m going to type in there "height". We're going to add a new line - let's do the same height of course, 40 pixels, and now that white has changed in its height - so we're making progress. Again, I'm going to select all that CSS, that we've just edited, we actually don't need to repeat the background color so what we'll do is I'll bring my notepad over here and we'll paste that in there. But I'm going to take out this background color line and just delete it. We have some weird double spacing happening here but that won't affect when we paste later on. Alright, next you notice that the title "Home" is now right on the very bottom it's not at the middle of the white spot there. So, let's go down another level over on the left and select - there we go we have the "ag menu item container". We click on that and now we're looking for something that will make that whole move up and as we scroll down here we see "g main nav top level padding" Now this check check box here, we can just uncheck that and see if that has any effect on what we're working on and it does, so we're in the right area and we want to adjust this first number to remove the padding that's at the top so it can move up a bit. I've already been experimenting with this, so we're going to go and put in ".45 REM" and as we change it we see that it's centered nicely up there. So, again down here we'll just hit enter and once again we have some CSS we want to select and copy and put in our list of CSS that we've edited. CSS Tutorial — Selectors, Element, Class and ID (3/13)
CSS Tutorial — Selectors, Element, Class and ID (3/13) So we just looked at a basic CSS statement and it starts with a selector. So what the hell are selectors, again? Say you are brangelina, and you have a bunch of kids, you wanna dress them for school except only one of them is old enough for school. So first you have to pick the right kid, then dress/style them. That’s what selectors are. Choose which kid you wanna prepare for school. Or since you’re not brangelina, Choose which element you wanna style. It all starts with the selector. There are different kinds of selectors. In our example, we used what’s called an element selector because it targets your styles based on the element type, That’s the most basic selector there is. By using the element type. Like a p tag. Cool? Cool. The problem with element selectors is that you might not want to turn ALL your paragraphs blue. What if you had 3 paragraphs and you only want one of them to be blue? The element type is an identifier but in this case it’s too general. I wanna show you an example. Look at this thing on atom’s website. See these two sections? One of them has a white background, the other one is beige. If you inspect it you’ll see they’re both divs, here they are, so clearly the dudes who made this couldn’t have said oh select all divs and change the background to white or beige. They needed to be more specific. You can select elements based on other kinds of identifiers. Classes and ID. Class is the most common and useful one, in fact that’s exactly what Atom is using. Take a look. They have wrapper class on one, and highlight on the other. If you click on highlight, you’ll see that class has a beige background on it. So let’s do one ourselves. Let’s say you have 4 paragraphs and you want to alternate between dark and light. So dark, light, dark, light. In other words you wanna reuse a style for multiple elements. In this case you can use a CLASS selector. The way you write these in CSS is you write the name of your class, this could be whatever you want, just can’t have spaces and some special characters, say DARK, and you put a DOT in front of it. Why a DOT? Well, I dunno what to tell you. There’s no good explanation why, that at least I know about. It’s just syntax that you have to remember. This tells the browser hey this is a CLASS selector. Then of course you have to add the class to your element in HTML. This means “hey select all the elements that have a class attribute and the value is dark. Let’s try it: DEMO 4 - I’m gonna cover ID selectors too just for the sake of it although we don’t use them much. ID attributes are specific to one element only. If you have a style that you want to apply to only one element, for some reason, you can add an ID to that element (for example: my-blue-paragraph), then use an ID selector in CSS to style it. ID selectors are just like CLASS selectors, except you put a # in front of the name instead of the DOT. That becomes the CSS selector for the element with that ID. So let’s try it. DEMO 3 - The problem with ID is that it’s limited to only 1 element. Remember IDs can’t be shared between elements. So you can’t reuse my-blue-paragraph ID for multiple elements. So those are the 3 basic selectors. Element, Class and ID. “Element” to style the elements of that type. ID to target only one specific element. And Class to reuse for multiple elements. We’ll be using all of them from now on. Selectors can get much much more complicated and they will, but now you know the basics. So next, we’re gonna look at some of our options when it comes to style properties, like color, so far that’s all we’ve used so I’m gonna talk about it in detail. Later, fonts, sizes, background, border, animations, display types, flexbox, where’d everyone go? I was talking.

Try Bandzoogle Free: http://bandzoogle.com/try-it-free From rootsy folk to power rock, your music will jump off the page with our new Requiem theme! Chock-full of design customization options, and aesthetically pleasing right off the bat, your fans will find it easy to listen to your music and learn about your band. - Main image, major customization Add a header image at the top of the page with this band website template. This is the place to make your mark: choose an image that represents your band, with just a glance. Now take your website to the next level by making it uniquely yours. Style your image by adjusting the header height so it fits just right. Then try our Instagram-worthy image filters on for size, giving your image a faded modern look. Want to try making it grayscale or more vibrant? Select from the options and see what looks best. - No header image? No problem This theme includes the ability to set your Homepage header to 0. This means if you don’t want to have an image up front, you don’t have to. Save space for images in your content, and still have a beautifully modern website. If your band has a great logo, upload it to replace the text, or choose a font that suits you. This text or logo is clickable from any page, and will reload the Homepage. - Smooth animation Make your website look modern as your menu floats in amid your image animation. You can enable parallax animation as well. - Menu options Make the menu transparent, or semi-transparent, and choose any color. Switch your band name text to upper or lowercase, or add a logo to sit on the left side. The selected page (whichever page your visitor is on) will be highlighted. The hover color of your menu items can be anything you choose. When your visitors scroll down the page to peruse your content, the menu bar stays in place, sticking to the top. So it’s easy to navigate to any page! - Content customization Now onto content! You can add a different header image per page, or set the header to 0 on your inner pages as well. This makes lots of room for your music, photos, and lyrics. Requiem has feature titles that include a line to separate your text and content in a stylish way. The content background color, feature title color, as well as the font and link color can all be adjusted quickly. Mix and match your content into columns and rows, or choose from our preset pages to add a bio, a photos page, or an EPK with ease. Then style your button’s shape and color, choosing from the preset suggestions on your color palette, or picking your own. The best thing about the Requiem website template is the ability to create a totally different design just by changing a few options. WordPress: how to change the font (size / type / color) on your entire website
WordPress: how to change the font (size / type / color) on your entire site Full article: http://imstartpage.com/change-font-wordpress-font-type-size-color Find or convert hex colors: http://imstartpage.com/color-code-conversion-tool-rgb-hex-cmyk Follow me on other media: ►Website: http://www.guidoshowtos.com ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/guidoshowtos ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/guidoshowtos ►Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Guidoshowtos Full instructions: The method I'm going to show, will change the default font on your entire website. The default font on your site is specified by a file called a 'stylesheet'. The stylesheet is part of your current WordPress theme. So; to change your font, you'll have to edit your stylesheet. To find out exactly what to edit, you can use a feature in Google Chrome; right-click the font you want to change, and then click 'inspect element'. On the right side of the menu, you'll see exactly what parts of the stylesheet are being used to make your site look the way it looks. Here, scroll down until you find something that says 'font'. OK, this is the part that specifies what fonts are being used on your site. You can have a look at the entire stylesheet by clicking this link. To change the font in WordPress, we need to find this part of the stylesheet in the back-end of WordPress. Because your stylesheet contains hundreds of lines of code, an easy way to find it is to use Google Chrome's search feature. So, I'm going to copy this part of the code, and add it in the search bar later. To edit your stylesheet, go to your dashboard, then click 'Appearance', and then 'Editor'. By default, it'll open the stylesheet, so that's style.css. Now press Ctrl+F to bring up the search bar, a and paste the text you copied earlier. This will bring you to the exact code you need to edit. For 'Font size', change the number to make your font smaller or larger. To change the font type, edit the name of the font, for 'font-family'. The first one in the line is the one that's going to be used. For 'color', enter the color you want to use. These are specified in the hexadecimal format (hex). When you're done making changes, scroll down and click 'Update file'. And that's it! Go back to your site, and refresh the page to see the changes take effect. And it works; your site is now using a larger font, another font type, and another font color. --- Dutch article: http://websiteopzetten.com/lettertype-font-veranderen-wordpress-type-grootte-kleur/ Also read: http://websiteopzetten.com/webhosting/
