How To Change Boot Order In Computer BIOS [For Beginners]
This tutorial demonstrates how to launch the built-in BIOS utility to change the boot order of your devices on your computer. If you are looking to set the primary boot device to a usb flash drive/stick or CD/DVD follow these steps. If you ever want to change these settings back, you can do so following the keyboard shortcuts located in the BIOS. Remember to always save your changes before closing out of the utility. To boot from a CD, DVD or USB device, make sure that the device has boot sequence priority over the hard drive. BIOS (Basic Input Output Subsystem) is a programmable chip that controls how information is passed to various devices in the computer system. A typical method to access the BIOS settings screen is to press ESC, F1, F2, F8 or F10 during the boot sequence. BIOS settings allow you to run a boot sequence from a floppy drive, a hard drive, a CD-ROM drive or an external device. You may configure the order that your computer searches these physical devices for the boot sequence. The first device in the order list has the first boot priority. For example, to boot from a CD-ROM drive instead of a hard drive, place the CD-ROM drive ahead of the hard drive in priority. Before you set boot priority for a USB device, plug the device into a USB port. To specify the boot sequence: 1. Start the computer and press ESC, F1, F2, F8 or F10 during the initial startup screen. Depending on the BIOS manufacturer, a menu may appear. 2. Choose to enter BIOS setup. The BIOS setup utility page appears. 3. Use the arrow keys to select the BOOT tab. System devices appear in order of priority. 4. To give a CD or DVD drive boot sequence priority over the hard drive, move it to the first position in the list. 5. To give a USB device boot sequence priority over the hard drive, do the following: Move the hard drive device to the top of the boot sequence list. Expand the hard drive device to display all hard drives. Move the USB device to the top of the list of hard drives. Save and exit the BIOS setup utility. 6. The computer will restart with the changed settings. 7. Boot Priority Options Some computer manufacturers allow you to select the device that contains the boot sequence from a special device selection menu. The example below uses a Dell system board. To set boot priority using a device selection menu: 1.When the computer starts to boot up, after the manufacturer's ID screen, press F12 several times. The device selection menu appears. 2. Use the up and down arrows to select CD-ROM or an USB Flash Drive. 3. To boot from the selected device, press ENTER. Note: Using an incorrect BIOS setting can cause a system malfunction. Please follow the BIOS guide provided with your computer motherboard. If you read these instructions and you are not sure how to change a setting, it is better to leave it as the default setting. This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems.Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung).

Why you should check a SATA drive's jumper settings
In this now obsolete video (consumer hard drives no longer have jumpers), I'll show you why it was important to check a SATA drive's jumper settings. It often had to do with the drive's performance. This did not apply to all SATA drives, and that's you should have looked your drive over to see what the jumper settings controlled. In the case shown here, some Seagate SATA drives shipped with a jumper setting that limited their bandwidth to 1.5 Gb/sec. Also... for those of you insistent on correcting me, I realize I should have used needle-nose pliers instead of a screwdriver to get that jumper off the drive. Thanks for pointing it out, over and over and over and over and over and over and over... Released 13-05-2010 Thanks for watching! I am a filmmaker, photographer, entrepreneur and consultant. How to Configure Boot Settings in Windows 10 (Official Dell Tech Support)
Learn how to configure boot settings in Windows 10 and gain a better understanding of the bios boot options available including Legacy and UEFI. For more information please visit http://dell.com/support For support questions email us at [email protected] VIDEO TRANSCRIPT Welcome to Dell Tech Support. Want to know more about how the boot process of your computer works? In today’s video we’ll cover this, as well as how to customize the boot process according to your needs. When you turn on the computer, it goes through the following steps. The BIOS loads all the physical components first. Then the POST does a quick check on all of them to make sure each one is okay. And finally the BOOT loads and starts the Operating System, this of course all happens in just a few quick seconds. To customize the BOOT process, turn on your computer and press the F2 key repeatedly to access the BIOS. Go to the BOOT tab and check the options available for customization. The Secure Boot is responsible for protecting your Operating System. When this option is Enabled, your system can only be replaced or partitioned through the restoration process (DELL warranty covers ONLY the original Operating System). Legacy Option ROMs (Read Only Memory) is responsible for the default Legacy BIOS. It’s best to keep this option default as Enabled. But if you do decide to change it, back up your data beforehand as this type of change will be applied to your Operating System. The Boot List Option has 2 options: Legacy and UEFI. This is basically the firmware option you can choose to boot your device. Legacy is the oldest firmware for Operating Systems that will work with the MBR file format (Master Boot Record). UEFI stands for Unified Extensible Firmware Interface which speeds up the boot process but also protects the Operating System. It prevents a new system from being installed over the original factory installation and it is not possible to create other partitions in this mode. For additional information on understanding Boot Options within BIOS, check out the link provided in the video description below. http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/4/SLN142679/EN

How the access the advanced setup utility of some HP motherboards
Some HP motherboards actually contain some hidden advanced setup options for configuring smart fan settings, CPU/System fan stall warnings, and quite a few other things. To access this advanced BIOS setup utility, you can press CTRL+F10→CTRL+F11 when you first see the HP/Compaq splash screen. It may take a few tries to get in. NOTE: This won't work with all HP motherboards, only some. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- When posting comments, please abide by the appropriate comments policy. The platters are combined with attractive heads, generally organized on a moving actuator arm, which read and compose information to the platter surfaces.[2] Data is gotten to in an arbitrary access way, implying that individual pieces of information can be put away or recovered in any request and not just successively. HDDs are a sort of non-unstable capacity, holding put away information notwithstanding when controlled off.[3][4][5] Presented by IBM in 1956,[6] HDDs turned into the overwhelming optional stockpiling gadget for broadly useful PCs by the mid 1960s. Consistently enhanced, HDDs have kept up this position into the advanced period of servers and PCs. More than 200 organizations have created HDDs verifiably, however after broad industry union most flow units are fabricated via Seagate, Toshiba, and Western Digital. HDD unit shipments and deals incomes are declining, however creation (exabytes every year) is developing. Streak memory has a developing offer of the market for optional capacity, as strong state drives (SSDs). SSDs have higher information exchange rates, higher areal stockpiling thickness, better reliability,[7] and much lower dormancy and access times.[8][9][10][11] Though SSDs have higher cost per bit, they are supplanting HDDs where speed, control utilization, little size, and toughness are important.[10][11] The essential attributes of a HDD are its ability and execution. Limit is indicated in unit prefixes comparing to forces of 1000: a 1-terabyte (TB) drive has a limit of 1,000 gigabytes (GB; where 1 gigabyte = 1 billion bytes). Normally, some of a HDD's ability is inaccessible to the client since it is utilized by the document framework and the PC working framework, and conceivably inbuilt repetition for mistake adjustment and recuperation. Execution is indicated when required to move the heads to a track or barrel (normal access time) in addition to the time it takes for the coveted segment to move under the head (normal inactivity, which is an element of the physical rotational speed in cycles every moment), lastly the speed at which the information is transmitted (information rate). The two most basic frame factors for current HDDs are 3.5-inch, for PCs, and 2.5-inch, principally for workstations. HDDs are associated with frameworks by standard interface links, for example, PATA (Parallel ATA), SATA (Serial ATA), USB or SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) links. Information stockpiling is the account (putting away) of data (information) in a capacity medium. Recording is proficient by for all intents and purposes any type of vitality. DNA and RNA, penmanship, phonographic recording, attractive tape, and optical circles are on the whole cases of capacity media. Electronic information stockpiling requires electrical energy to store and recover information. Information stockpiling in a computerized, machine-intelligible medium is now and again called advanced information. PC information stockpiling is one of the center elements of a broadly useful PC. Electronic archives can be put away in a considerably less space than paper documents.[2] Barcodes and attractive ink character acknowledgment (MICR) are two methods for recording machine-discernable information on paper. A chronicle medium is a physical material that holds data. Recently made data is appropriated and can be put away in four stockpiling media, print, movie, attractive, and optical and seen or heard in four data streams, phone, radio and TV, and the Internet[3] and in addition being watched specifically. Advanced data is put away on electronic media in a wide range of recording designs.

For fixed disks guys: Check your connecting cables attached the HDD to the computer. Make sure they are not loose. When you start your computer, you need to press some key to enter "Setup" which are your BIOS settings. In that, there is an option to choose SATA mode. What is the value that you have set? Is it AHCI?

Dell Boot Sequence Problem Solution
I got several Dell Dimension E521s from a office that was closing down, they didn't come with any hard drives. So, I didn't know if they would work or not. After a week, I got 2 used hard drives from a computer store that deal in used computer equipment and computers for about $10 for a 250 gb hdd, and $5 for a 160 gb hdd. I installed them onto both computers, and one of the computers had a problem booting. I put the operating system in the DVD drive, and it didn't work. I proceeded to the BIOs to change the boot sequence. I put the CD/DVD-ROM drive first, and the hard drive next. However, the only drive that was numbered was the USB device. The next thing I did was save the information I changed on the BIOs and exited the BIOs. The operating system was in the drive, and it did not work again. I never encountered anything like this before, I was perplexed. I came with another idea. I went to the BIOs and I went to the BIOs sequence menu again. Then, pressed the spacebar to number the sequence, and it worked. Correct Boot Sequence 1. DVD-ROM/CD-ROM 2. Hard Drive Incorrect Boot Sequence DVD-ROM/CD-ROM Hard Drive 1. usb boot drive I guess, you learn something new everyday. Buying old computers for cheap and upgrading to the limit are one of my hobbies. I have some experience with this model. I was able to upgrade the Dell Dimension E-521 to a very modern system which I use at my office today. The specs are as follows. CPU: Athlon 64 x 2 5600+ 2.9 ghzs GPU: PNY Geforce GT 740 1 gb DDR5 RAM: 8 gbs DDR2 PC-5300 667 mhzs Hard Drive: Western Digital 1 TB sata 3 DVD-ROM: Samsung SSH-224 sata 3 Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits The system works well. I can play mp3s on it while I am at work. I can watch or listen to Youtube videos while I am using other work applications. It can handle everything I throw at it. For me it is different, I am a independent contractor, so I have to provide myself with my own equipment. I had a Intel I7 4790 at my office, and I used the modernized Dell Dimension E-521 instead. I got the computer for free, but I had to upgrade it. How to Enable AHCI Mode Without Reinstalling Windows, INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE Error 💻🛠️🤔
👍 Watch how to enable AHCI mode for a computer where an operating system has already been installed. The SATA interface can operate in two modes, IDE and AHCI: • IDE – a compatibility mode for older equipment and software. In fact, in this mode SATA capacity is no different from its predecessor, ATA (or PATA) interface; • AHCI – a new mode for memory devices, where a computer can use all SATA advantages, primarily higher speed of data exchange with SSD and HDD as well as hot swapping of hard disks. When you activate AHCI mode, it increases the speed of access to files in memory devices and improves overall performance of your computer.
