Here's how you market your website when you have no money. Step 1: Go to Quora and search for all of the questions that people have within your space and answer them. When it makes sense, link back out to your website. This is so effective that my Quora profile gets hundreds of thousands of views each month. Step 2: Create content in different formats (text, video, audio) and promote them on the social web (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Quora). You can post the same content on multiple social sites as Google DOES NOT penalize for duplicate content. When using this tactic make sure you only put part of your content on social media and make the readers click over back to your site to read the rest. Step 3: Google for forums within your space and respond to questions. Within your forum response add a signature that lists your website. The better response you give the more traffic you will get. That's how you market your website when you can't spend any money on marketing. :)

Tip #1: Focus on one product. You do not need to be selling millions of products like Amazon to do well. I met a lady who makes high heels more comfortable selling insoles. She has one product, and that's it. Do you know how much she makes? Well into the seven figures per year. You don't need a lot of products to do well. If you're on Shopify, you can use Oberlo, and that'll help make it, so you don't have to worry about the logistics. If you're only doing one product, your life becomes so much easier. Focus on one product that solves a pain point. #2: Upsell and downsell. It's easier to get someone who has bought from you once to spend more money with you than it is to get new people to buy from you. If you're selling insoles that make women's shoes nice and comfortable, your upsell could be a pack of three instead of just one. That's an easy upsell. Doing simple things like that will increase your lifetime value, which will open up more possibilities. #3: Advertise. Facebook advertising and Google AdWords both work extremely well in e-commerce marketing. Facebook ads and Google ads are a great way to boost your e-commerce sales, and you if you're not sure where to get started with Facebook ads or Google ads, leave a comment below and I'll answer you, and I'll give you feedback on how to run the perfect Facebook ad campaign or a Google AdWords campaign. #4: Leverage subscriptions. Make sure you offer subscription options. For example, if you're selling makeup or lipstick, people are gonna run out of it. The question is just when? So why not give them an option where they can subscribe and continually get new makeup? If you're using Shopify, you can use a tool called Recharge to make your product a subscription. #5: Recover abandoned shoppers. In 2017, roughly 75.6% of shopping carts were abandoned. So, you need to make them come back and buy. How do you do that? Recovering abandonment solutions, such as collecting their emails. When someone's buying from you, you're probably collecting their name and email first before you're showing the credit card information. You can do things like exit intent offers, using tools like Hello Bar, where you show them an exit offer saying, hey, thinking about leaving? Put in your name and email and I'll send you a 10% off coupon or a free shipping coupon. #6: Optimize your checkout process. Baymard did a study on checkout pages. They found when companies optimize their checkout pages, they made an extra 260 billion, that's not million, that's billion with a B, extra dollars. Don't forget to optimize your checkout process. The way you do that is by first removing unnecessary fields. Why would you ask someone for their name and email and address multiple times? That's unnecessary. Keep it simple. The other way you can optimize your checkout process is by making it two-step. #7: Leverage a referral program. If someone's buying from your e-commerce site, they probably know other people have the same problem and need your solution. Create a referral program, and you can do this through ReferralCandy. You can do simple things like, get 20 bucks when you refer someone that also signs up and buys. The key with a referral program is to incentivize both the person giving the referral and the person accepting the referral. Follow these seven tips, and you should generate at least 50 plus percent more in sales. Leave a comment below and say, hey, here's my e-commerce store. I'll respond telling you which one you should do first, second, et cetera, so that way, you're doing the ones first that are gonna create the biggest ROI. Here are 3 SEO strategies that will boost your rankings! #1: Focus on content Google has this update called Hummingbird, and with Hummingbird, websites who just have content on everything won't do as well as sites which focus on one single niche and are super thorough. You want to be VERY thorough with your SEO content. Poke holes in your content and fill them all up, so then that way people are like, "This is the end all site "that you should end up reading "if you're interested in dating online." #2: Optimize your title tag and your meta description Have you ever done a Google search, and noticed that every time you do it, there is this link at the top, and then there's this one sentence with a link at the top is called the title tag. And the description below is called the meta description. Now think of it this way, if you search for the phrase online dating, and you don't see the word online dating in neither the title or the description, are you going to click on the result? Well if you are, there's something wrong, because why would you click on a result that isn't related to what you're looking for? In addition to that, have you ever searched for a term like online dating? And have you ever noticed that the word isn't in the title or description? That's because Google tracks who's clicking on what listing, and they've learned that when a keyword is in the listing, that same keyword that you're searching for, they know you're way more likely to click through. So in your title tag and your meta description, make sure you include the keyword. But you can't just add the keyword, "online dating," right? The easiest way and what I would do and I wish it was this simple; I will just put "online dating, online dating, online dating, online dating." If I could put it 20 times so people would know that the article is on online dating, I wish I would get more clicks. But it's not that simple. Yes you have to include the keyword in your title and your description, but it has to be appealing. If it doesn't flow in a sentence, it's not easy to read, and it's not appealing or evoking curiosity, no one is gonna click through. #3: Use Google Search Console Did you know that Google gives you a tool that teaches you how to rank number one on Google? Yes I know that sounds ridiculous but it is true, and it's called Google Search Console. If you're not already a user of it, sign up. It doesn't cost a dollar. You're missing out if you're not using it. I can't emphasize that enough. So now that you're using Google Search Console...give it a few days because it takes some time to populate data. You'll see a screen that shows Search Analytics and this shows you all the pages on your website that are getting you traffic. But the cool thing about Google Search Console is they also show you which articles are getting impressions. Take all the keywords you're getting impressions for and start adding them to your copy. Now we have an article on Instagram, and it teaches you how to get over 300 targeted Instagram followers per day. The article is around 10,000 words. When I first wrote that article, it wasn't 10,000 words, it was roughly 2,500. I went to Google Search Console, I saw all the people that are searching for terms related to the article, I added them within that article. I made it more thorough and you know what? My SEO traffic more than tripled to that article. Yes it is that simple. And when I made that change, it didn't happen right away, but I noticed the results within 50 days. That's not a long time. Now that you've learned these three tips, I challenge you in which I want you to take these tactics and implement them, and then after you implement them, in the next 45 days I want you to leave a comment with your results. Because it gives a significant amount of information for Free. With Similarweb you can keep tabs on your competition and see where the site traffic is coming from and how many websites hits they are getting per month. You can also check out various social media traffic sources and use to create your marketing strategies. But one of my fav thing about this tool is that it enables me to see which country my competition is getting traffic from. So, if I see a particular country that I am not targeting with my ads but my competition is getting traffic, I would start runnings ads targeting audience in that country. But the key with content marketing is understanding that your results are directly tied to the quality of your content. So in this video I’m going to cover 5 easy to follow tips for writing great content. Tip 1: Keep It Clear, Concise, and Focused The most important thing you can do for your content is to keep it on point. Your potential customer found this content for a reason, whether through a search engine, or spotting a link that caught their attention. Their goal is to learn more about the subject you’ve headlined and you owe it to them to provide it. Tip 2: Edit, Edit, Edit Hammering out a 2,000 word article and hitting submit just shouldn’t happen. Even Hemingway was well known for disliking his initial drafts. Break up your editing into phases. Tip 3: Make the Content Actionable Talking about your success is fine, but what your customers really want to know is how they can do it too. By creating actionable content, you’re giving your audience things they can try immediately. Tip 4: Add Images Images can take a decent post and make it great. The key to shareable content is to find relatable graphics. Using stock photos for the sole purpose of using images may look better than a completely text-based piece of content, but it’s pointless if it doesn’t benefit the reader. According to Forbes, articles with images get 94% more views than articles without. That’s too large of a percentage to pass up on. Tip 5: Provide Answers No one wants to finish an article with more questions than they arrived with. Again, people are consuming your content for a reason. Remember that with your headline, you’ve made a promise to answer their question, so you need to be sure your content provides the answers they were looking for. Conclusion These tips may sound simple but that’s because they are. Writing great content isn’t reserved for the Shakespeares and Tolstoys of our generation. Today, I share some of the best ways to get more traffic fast based on my own websites and blogs as well as in-house strategies we practice at Ahrefs. Here’s what’s covered in the tutorial. 1. The Reverse Quora Technique Quora is a popular question and answer forum. But posting on questions with a lot of views or upvotes is not a good method to get free traffic from this platform. Instead, you can reverse engineer Quora’s organic keyword rankings in Google for a data-driven way to find topics that will get passive SEO traffic. The result? Over 40,000 visitors and 15,000 leads from Quora alone to a brand new website. 2. The 17K Experiment Facebook ads and Google ads are popular paid sources to get traffic to your website. But as they grow in popularity, they get more expensive. But there are a lot of cheap advertising platforms out there simply because they’re not used as much. Meaning, less competition. I tested ad platforms such as Pinterest, Taboola, Reddit, Outbrain, and Yahoo Gemini. Two of these platforms worked really well for me and one even produced a 3.5X ROI on every dollar spent. 3. Get a boost in organic traffic without creating new pages This is one of the best ways to get free traffic to your website and all you need to do is update out-of-date content. But there’s more to this strategy than picking a random blog post and rewriting it. This video outlines criteria to watch for to maximize your chances of getting more visitors to your blog. We’ve been using this technique at Ahrefs and have seen near instant spikes in traffic to some of our pages. 4. The Content Multiplier You might have heard of repurposing content. But does it actually work? The video covers some slick hacks we use on Twitter to drive higher engagement for each tweet. We also share some of our blog and YouTube stats that shows the exponential growth we’ve had over the past 7 months. 5. Improve Click-through Rate on All Platforms This one might seem obvious to you. But are you regularly practicing this? Nearly all digital marketing platforms (Google, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) give you stats on click-through rates. Rather than blindly changing all of your titles, there are methods you can use to find pages that could use a boost in clicks. Double your click-through rate and double your website. 6. Our Favorite Online Marketing Strategy - Search Engine Optimization (SEO) This one may not be as fast as PPC traffic, but the huge advantage is that it’s free and drives passive and consistent traffic to your site. It tracks your visitor count if you have a lot of traffic. They'll sample the data unless you pay like a hundred or a hundred and fifty grand or whatever their price is per year. Google Analytics will show you how people are engaging throughout your site and what traffic sources are causing most conversions. Don't optimize for traffic. Optimize for traffic that causes conversions. 3:00 The second digital marketing tool I have for you is Ubersuggest. You're going to want to get rankings. You're going to want more search traffic. It's the most consistent traffic that you'll get. Yes. Social media traffic is easier and quicker to get. But Google's algorithm updates aren't as crazy as Facebook's. It won't be where one day you're getting 300,000 visitors from Facebook organic reach and the next day you're getting 10,000 visitors. Google's organic traffic is very, very consistent. So use Ubersuggest. 3:40 The third digital marketing tool I have for you is Google Search Console. We love doing this internally, where we take Google search console, we log in; we look at all the posts, how many impressions they get, how many clicks they get and the click-through rate. We look for the posts that get less than a five percent click-through rate. We look at all the keywords that were getting impressions from that post, and then we integrate those keywords into that blog post or that landing page, and we rewrite that content. 7:30 The fourth digital marketing tool is Crazyegg. Crazyegg shows me how people are engaging with my website. How far they're scrolling. Where they're clicking. It allows me to take that data and, within Crazyegg, you don't have to be a developer, you don't have to be a designer. You can adjust your page and run A/B tests to maximize your sales. Because it's not just about getting traffic, it's about converting those visitors into conversions. Another tool that I love using is called Subscribers. It's through push notifications. People will come through to your website, but they don't come back. 8:00 The fifth digital marketing tool is called Subscribers. It's through push notifications. People will come through to your website, but they don't come back. What it does is it puts a little browser notification when people come to your site and gets them to subscribe without being obtrusive, it does it all within the browser. 9:00 The last digital marketing tool that I'm going to give you guys that you guys should check out is HubSpot. HubSpot's a great tool to look at your overall marketing, your lead count. It integrates marketing with sales, and that's why I want to end with HubSpot. I love it. I use it, and sure some people may say "Hey, there are other tools that do this or that." HubSpot has a lot of free plans, and they have some startup plans, which is very entrepreneur friendly, and best of all is they keep adding more and more stuff for free, so why not? They're a huge billion dollar company that are trying to crush their competitors, so they're just releasing a lot of stuff for free. Hey, that's for your benefit. 10:00 All this data and these digital marketing tools, with no action, is useless. You're better off saving the money and not even paying or using any of them. This one if from Trending America's News Collection, "Hi Neil, can you share how to generate traffic from Quora?" 0:50 The first way to generate traffic from Quora is you go and you look for every single person who is asking questions related to your industry and you answer them. 1:45 Do searches on Quora related to keywords within your industry, you wanna then go and answer each question. By answering each question, you'll build up authority and you'll grow in popularity. That's what we first started doing, that was our first test. We didn't generate any traffic but we're generating branding and that did generate some leads but not enough. 2:30 My team, which knows my content, they went and they took blog posts and they took the snippets or the excerpts that were very relevant that answered the questions, link to them, or not linked to them, they took it, they put them on Quora and they linked over back to the blog whenever it made sense and that strategy worked amazingly well. 3:00 We found that works the best is copying and pasting content from your blog that already answers a question and linking back. Plus, adding in unique content just for the Quora audience, it doesn't have to be a lot, like just a few sentences, you combine both of those, link back and you do that consistently, you'll get a ton of traffic. 4:00 That's the strategy to get a ton of traffic from Quora, works well, you're not gonna make millions of dollars from Quora and if you don't wanna take the time responding or taking your blog content and repurposing it on Quora, you can just do ads on Quora, that works as well. It's not the highest ROI but it works, it works better to drive more content awareness than driving direct sales from Quora but you can also do the pay for play model. 4:30 I just find with a community, it's just the more you give, the more you get. And when you spam and I mean, my company has forums and things like that and sometimes we get spammers and what happens? We want them out so if you can add value, legitimate value, and obviously Neil wasn't spamming, he was actually giving good value, just not the way that they wanted. If you give good value, you get that juice in return, they'll give that to you so, something to keep in mind with any of these community sites, even on YouTube comments, anything like that, y'kno on Neil's channels sometimes we see people leaving links just to spam and try to get traffic. 5:00 I go through, moderating the comments and the most common one is a group of people, I don't know who they are, talking about this Instagram tool to get more followers, like that's the biggest spam comment that we get on YouTube, not on Facebook or anywhere else, this is just YouTube.
