An increase in the supply of dollars implies that at each and every price for the dollar more dollars are supplied than before. This is represented by a rightward shift of the supply-of-dollars curve. The rand appreciates and the dollar depreciates.

#BizPrime CHART OF THE DAY: Rand-Dollar exchange

02:26
The rand was knocked today after the ruling African National Congress proposed that the South African Reserve Bank should be wholly state-owned rather than an institution with private shareholders. The recommendation was approved in a plenary session at the party's policy conference but still needs to be ratified at the party's national electoral conference in December. The move comes just two weeks after South Africa's Public Protector attempted to instigate a change in the bank mandate. Busisiwe Mkhwebane instructed Parliament to amend the constitution to make the Reserve Bank focus on "socioeconomic well-being of the citizens" rather than inflation. Economist says removing private shareholders would have no immediate effect on policy though it could be seen as symbolic. For more news, visit: http://www.sabc.co.za/news

South African rand falls to its lowest in 2019

South Africa’s rand fell early on Thursday to its lowest this year. This comes as a dispute within in the ruling African National Congress over the central bank weakened demand. At 0800 GMT, the rand was 0.15% weaker at 14.8850 per dollar compared with an overnight close of 14.8600. It tumbled to a session low of 14.9625, its weakest since October, before settling near 14.80. The currency has been hurt by the ANC’s internal squabble over whether the central bank should do more to promote jo… READ MORE : http://www.africanews.com/2019/06/06/south-african-rand-falls-to-its-lowest-in-2019 Africanews on YouTube brings you a daily dose of news, produced and realised in Africa, by and for Africans. USD/ZAR Forecast March 28, 2019

01:14
The US dollar rallied rather significantly against the South African Rand during trading on Wednesday, finally breaking above the crucial 14.50 Rand resistance barrier. This is an area that has been crucial for several weeks, and the fact that we close towards the top of the candle stick also suggests that we are getting ready to go higher. Remember, I had recently suggested that the 14.65 level needs to be overcome in order to continue going higher, but it certainly looks as if we are going to make a significant attempt to do exactly that. Once we do, I would anticipate that the 14.75 Rand level would be next, followed by the 15.00 Rand level. This looks to be a classic breakout scenario, but obviously being an exotic currency pair you need to be a little bit more cautious about potential volatility than you would in a pair like the EUR/USD. for more analysis: http://www.dailyforex.com

How does a South Africa Rand money Bill look like in 200X Macro magnification

08:13
This video is about daily paper currency, money notes Dollar bills magnification vision. Etymology The Rand takes its name from the WitwatersRand ("white waters' ridge" in English), the ridge upon which Johannesburg is built and where most of South Africa's gold deposits were found. History The Rand was introduced in the-then Union of South Africa on 14 February 1961, three months before the Republic of South Africa was established.[1] A Decimal Coinage Commission had been set up in 1956 to consider a move away from the denominations of pounds, shillings, and pence, submitting its recommendation on 8 August 1958.[2] It replaced the South African pound as legal tender, at the rate of 2 Rand to 1 pound, or 10 shillings to the Rand. The government introduced a mascot, Decimal Dan, "the Rand-cent man" (known in Afrikaans as Daan Desimaal).[3] This was accompanied by a radio jingle, to inform the public about the new currency.[4] Brief exchange rate history 1971–2000 Value of the South African Rand to the United States dollar from 1975-2015 by the blue columns: The percentage rate of change year-on-year is shown by the black line.[5] One Rand was worth US$1.40 from the time of its inception in 1961 until late 1971. Its value thereafter fluctuated as various exchange rate dispensations were implemented by the South African authorities. By the early-1980s, high inflation and mounting political pressure combined with sanctions placed against the country due to international opposition to the apartheid system started to erode its value. The currency broke above parity with the dollar for the first time in March 1982, and continued to trade between R 1 and R 1.30 to the dollar until June 1984, when depreciation of the currency gained momentum. By February 1985, it was trading over R 2 per dollar, and in July that year, all foreign exchange trading was suspended for three days to try to stop the depreciation. By the time that State President P. W. Botha made his Rubicon speech on 15 August 1985, it had weakened to R 2.40 per dollar. The currency recovered somewhat between 1986–88, trading near the R 2 level most of the time and even breaking beneath it sporadically. The recovery was short-lived, however, and by the end of 1989, the Rand was trading at levels more than R 2.50 per dollar.

USD/ZAR Forecast April 29, 2019

01:01
The US dollar initially tried to rally during the trading session on Friday but found the area near 14.50 Rand to be a bit difficult to break above. After that, we break down below the bottom of the shooting star for the previous session, which of course is a sell signal. At this point, the market looks as if it is going to favor the South African Rand over the US dollar in the short term, mainly because we may be in more of a “risk on” type of situation. The South African Rand is a great way to play the emerging markets, because although it is an emerging market, it is structurally sound enough to invest in without a lot of concerns, at least that’s the way it’s always been. for more analysis: http://www.dailyforex.com
