To hide the default styling from the select element applied by the browser we will use the css3 appearance property and set its value to none. And then, we will use an another useful rule to hide the default arrows applied by Internet explorer 10; from the select box dropdown. THREE DIFFERENT METHODS THAT WE WILL BE USING Each select box will be using a different method for styling the dropdown arrow inside the combobox. - The first Method will show using an Image Background technique to create custom arrow for the CSS select box. - The second method will use the CSS border property to create a triangular shape that will be used to customize your select element's dropdown arrow. - Finally, the third method will use the fontawesome glyphicon to create our custom arrow for the selectbox dropdown. All, the method will have the cross-browser support for our custom css3 select box. Each method ensures that it works properly in the Internet explorer 10 or above and other older browser. How to Add Custom Fonts in WordPress Manually and Using a Plugin

06:58
Are you looking to customize the font on your WordPress site to make its design exactly how you like? Not all themes have a built in method to edit the font of your site and you may be looking to change this. In this video, we will show you how to add custom fonts to your WordPress site. Font Pair website: https://fontpair.co For selecting the fonts to use on your site you can use the Font Pair website for what would work well together and then you can visit the Google Fonts website at: https://fonts.google.com Select the fonts you want to add and there should be a new section at the bottom of the page where you can see the fonts you selected to add to your WordPress site. Expand that area and ensure you are under the Embed section for the correct code that you will need to add to your header. For adding the code you would want to use the plugin Insert Headers and Footers found here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/insert-headers-and-footers/ Under Settings, Insert Headers and Footers you will add the first set of code to add the fonts to your site. With that added and saved you will want to go under Appearance, Customize, Additional CSS and there you would be able to add the second code which lets the font be visible to you and your visitors. A second method would be using the Easy Google Fonts plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-google-fonts/ The plugin will add a new section under Appearance, Typography and there you will be able to select the font to use for each style location. We would still recommend only two fonts to prevent confusing your users. Our third method for this would be the plugin Typekit Fonts for WordPress: https://wordpress.org/plugins/typekit-fonts-for-wordpress/ With that plugin, you would be able to select fonts from the Typekit website, add the ID from the popup, and select where you want the custom font for your WordPress site to appear in your Appearance, Customize, Additional CSS section. Change WordPress Font-Size Using Theme Options or CSS | WP Learning Lab

Grab Your Free 17-Point WordPress Pre-Launch PDF Checklist: http://vid.io/xqRL Download your exclusive 10-Point WP Hardening Checklist: http://bit.ly/10point-wordpress-hardening-checklist Change WordPress Font-Size Using Theme Options or CSS | WP Learning Lab Changing WordPress Font-size is done in the theme options panel or with CSS. Once you know where to make the changes in your theme it is easy to do. As with a lot of things in Wordpress, where you do things depends on the theme you're using and the plugins you're running. First, always check to see if your theme has theme options. If it does then you should be able to find a typography tab to edit font sizes. Sometimes font sizes will be found in the general settings of the theme options. The theme options will be found either under the Appearance menu in the left hand side admin menu or there will be special menu item that the them itself added. If your theme doesn't have theme options, then you're next stop should be the customizer. Some themes have a lot of WordPress Customizer support. Go to Appearance then Customizer to see if you can edit font sizes there. If both of those are a no-go then you're left with going to directly to the stylesheet to change font sizes. This is method is great if you have some CSS knowledge. To find your stylesheet go to Appearance then Editor. The stylesheet will be the first thing to appear in the editor. If, for some reason, it's not there, then find the style.css file in the list of theme files on the right and click it to open it in the editor. NOTE: You should be edit stylesheet of a child theme only. If you edit the parent theme stylesheet directly then your edits could be overwritten when you update the them. Here's a tutorial on how to create a child theme if you need it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8n1h-85SMQ Now that you have the CSS stylesheet open in the editor you will need to find the font styles. The easiest way to do this is go to your main site and find the fonts that you want to edit. If you're using Google Chrome or Firefox right click on the text and choose the "inspector" or "inspect" from the context menu. If you're not using Google Chrome or Firefox then start using them. In the inspector that opens at the bottom of the page you should see the text highlighted in the main area and the class of the element on the right. You can type styles right into the element on the right hand side to quickly test to see how big you want the font to be. This doesn't save it permanently. What you see is only in your browser and as soon as you refresh the page you'll lose it. So, find the class for the text, find the right size and move that CSS rule in to the stylesheet for the child theme. Sometimes you'll have to fight with the existing CSS to make your font changes take effect. That's where a command link !important comes in very handy. If you type .h2 {font-size:10px !important;}. Having !important forces that style to take precedent over all others. It's a lazy way to code CSS, but unless you have time to find the conflicting styles, it's a fast and easy trick. In this tutorial I show you how to style the contact form submit button, various input fields, text area fields, URL fields, telephone fields, number fields and dropdown selection fields. I have created a blog post will sample CSS and sample CSS selectors that you can copy and paste. Here's the link: https://wplearninglab.com/contact-form-7-css-style-almost-anything/ I'll also paste the styles below: /* Submit Button CSS Styles */ .wpcf7 input[type=submit] { padding:15px 45px; background:#FF0000; color:#fff; font-size:30px; font-weight:bold; border:0 none; cursor:pointer; -webkit-border-radius: 5px; border-radius: 5px; } /* Label Text Styles */ .wpcf7 label { padding: 0 0 10px 0; font-size: 20px; } /* Text Input Field Styles */ .wpcf7 input[type=text], .wpcf7 input[type=email], .wpcf7 input[type=url], .wpcf7 input[type=tel], .wpcf7 input[type=number], .wpcf7 .wpcf7-select{ font-size:30px; border: 1px solid red; } /* Textarea Field Styles */ .wpcf7 textarea { width: 100%; color: red; font-size: 20px; border-color:red; } /* Overall form styles */ .wpcf7 { background-color:gray; } Remember that these styles need to go into your CSS stylesheet or if you are putting them right into the header of your site they need to be between style tags. If you are lucky enough to have a theme that allows custom CSS, you can copy and paste them into there. If you're not sure where to find a place where you can enter CSS, this tutorial may help you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLSUWT9MNlA CSS is a very forgiving language, so if you make a change that makes something look really bad just undo your change, save and everything is back to normal. CSS Tutorial — Selectors, Element, Class and ID (3/13)

06:35
CSS Tutorial — Selectors, Element, Class and ID (3/13) So we just looked at a basic CSS statement and it starts with a selector. So what the hell are selectors, again? Say you are brangelina, and you have a bunch of kids, you wanna dress them for school except only one of them is old enough for school. So first you have to pick the right kid, then dress/style them. That’s what selectors are. Choose which kid you wanna prepare for school. Or since you’re not brangelina, Choose which element you wanna style. It all starts with the selector. There are different kinds of selectors. In our example, we used what’s called an element selector because it targets your styles based on the element type, That’s the most basic selector there is. By using the element type. Like a p tag. Cool? Cool. The problem with element selectors is that you might not want to turn ALL your paragraphs blue. What if you had 3 paragraphs and you only want one of them to be blue? The element type is an identifier but in this case it’s too general. I wanna show you an example. Look at this thing on atom’s website. See these two sections? One of them has a white background, the other one is beige. If you inspect it you’ll see they’re both divs, here they are, so clearly the dudes who made this couldn’t have said oh select all divs and change the background to white or beige. They needed to be more specific. You can select elements based on other kinds of identifiers. Classes and ID. Class is the most common and useful one, in fact that’s exactly what Atom is using. Take a look. They have wrapper class on one, and highlight on the other. If you click on highlight, you’ll see that class has a beige background on it. So let’s do one ourselves. Let’s say you have 4 paragraphs and you want to alternate between dark and light. So dark, light, dark, light. In other words you wanna reuse a style for multiple elements. In this case you can use a CLASS selector. The way you write these in CSS is you write the name of your class, this could be whatever you want, just can’t have spaces and some special characters, say DARK, and you put a DOT in front of it. Why a DOT? Well, I dunno what to tell you. There’s no good explanation why, that at least I know about. It’s just syntax that you have to remember. This tells the browser hey this is a CLASS selector. Then of course you have to add the class to your element in HTML. This means “hey select all the elements that have a class attribute and the value is dark. Let’s try it: DEMO 4 - I’m gonna cover ID selectors too just for the sake of it although we don’t use them much. ID attributes are specific to one element only. If you have a style that you want to apply to only one element, for some reason, you can add an ID to that element (for example: my-blue-paragraph), then use an ID selector in CSS to style it. ID selectors are just like CLASS selectors, except you put a # in front of the name instead of the DOT. That becomes the CSS selector for the element with that ID. So let’s try it. DEMO 3 - The problem with ID is that it’s limited to only 1 element. Remember IDs can’t be shared between elements. So you can’t reuse my-blue-paragraph ID for multiple elements. So those are the 3 basic selectors. Element, Class and ID. “Element” to style the elements of that type. ID to target only one specific element. And Class to reuse for multiple elements. We’ll be using all of them from now on. Selectors can get much much more complicated and they will, but now you know the basics. So next, we’re gonna look at some of our options when it comes to style properties, like color, so far that’s all we’ve used so I’m gonna talk about it in detail. Later, fonts, sizes, background, border, animations, display types, flexbox, where’d everyone go? I was talking.

How to Create CSS Dropdown List

01:25
In this tutorial we will learn to create CSS drop down menu. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ Follow this easy step by step easy tutorial to learn how to create CSS Dropdown list and see some of the formatting techniques of the menu items. Drop Down menus are used in almost every web page nowadays. They actually bind the data values to the menu items, hence the user just interact with the Sub items, not bothering about the data value. Step 1 - Main Category First of all, let's open up the 'html' and 'body' tag. After that open up the 'label' tag and give the list a name. Then declare a class for our menu. Let's name the class "Animal" for now, since we will be creating a list of animals. The code would be: 'html' 'body' 'label' Select Any Animal '/label' 'select class ="Animal"' Step 2 - Code for Sub Categories Now open up the 'option value' tag, give the required options after the "value" attribute and specify its class as "options", since we want to create a drop down menu. After that, we will specify the name of the value which has to appear in the list on the browser. Lastly, do remember to close the tags. The code for the sub categories would be: 'option value="lion" class="options"'Lion'/option' 'option value="tiger" class="options"'Tiger'/option' 'option value="Leopard" class="options"'leopard'/option' Step 3 - Preview In browser Further, save the file as .html extension and open it up in a browser. The menu would appear as the way we coded it. Step 4 - Applying CSS Now let us apply some styles on our CSS drop down menu. For that, we will add a style tag before the body tag. Now, let's apply formatting on the options that will appear in the list. For that, we will define the functionality in the members' class. Here, the member class is options, so let's change the font size and color. After that, let's close the style tag and open up the browser. Step 5 - CSS effects After that, refresh the page which was opened in browser previously. It would be observed that the size and color of the CSS dropdown list has just appeared as we coded it. And that is all about CSS dropdown list.

07:19
As a front end developer, it's important to understand the before and after pseudo selectors. And so in this HTML tutorial, we'll walk through a dead simple explanation for how they work. And what we're gonna do is, we have our links right here on the menu and I want to add a little link icon right to the right of each one of them. Now technically I could just go to Font Awesome and then we could put an icon, place it inside of that H1 tag, but then we'd have to do it for each one of these elements. But what if we want to have every anchor tag in the entire application to have a link there? Well that is a perfect scenario for using an after, or a before pseudo selectors. Let's talk about what they are because they can look a little bit confusing if you've never seen them. But I think that after we walk through this demo, it's gonna make a lot more sense. Let's switch back to the code here, and we have right here our spicy H1 anchor tag. And we can get access to this, if we just look and we select an anchor link and then we grab the H1 tag inside of an anchor link. That's gonna give us exactly what we're looking for. Let me open up our helper's file and down below I'm gonna grab the anchor link and then after that, I'm gonna grab the H1 and then I'm going to add two semi-colons here, and I'll say before ... because I'm gonna show you both the before and after pseudo selectors. And this is a very different way of working with CSS because usually with CSS we don't render items in content directly on the page. But that's exactly what this pseudo selector allows us to do. What I'm going ... the attribute I'm gonna use is called content. And then content takes a string. Right here I'm going to say content, and let me just say I'm before. And then I'm going to copy this and now we're also going to create an after pseudo selector. And here I'm going to add just a little dash and here I'll say I'm after, and I'll put a dash and a space right there. Now if I hit save and come back and hit refresh, you can see that this added the actual content in the H1 link. We did not touch the HTML whatsoever. What before and after do is they allow you to select an item on the page and add content to it. This can be incredibly helpful because notice if you scroll down, this has been ... this has affected every one of the anchor tag H1s. And if you wanted to say, make a change that populated on hundreds of pages, this is a great way of doing it. If not, you'd have to go and find every single anchor tag in the entire system and then change it. That's really all that you need to do. Now I want to add an icon, so let's talk about what we can do in order to make that happen. I'm gonna get rid of this before tag here, and in the content I am going to add a unicode character. We need to switch back to the browser and let's go to Font Awesome here. Oop, not fonts Google, Font Awesome. And we're going to grab a link tag here, so let's type in link and then click on it. With Font Awesome, the traditional way that you use it is to simply grab their HTML elements in these little i tags. But you also have a few other options. You could get the actual glyphicon which is not something that I do very often. In fact I don't think I've ever done that. But this one is very helpful. This is a unicode representation of the icons. What this is going to allow us to do is to call this directly from within a CSS file. Because we can't call these class names, so we're gonna call this unicode. And this is going to allow us to treat it exactly like a font. Now inside of the content, I'm going to use an escape character, so this is gonna be a forward slash, or backward slash. And then from there I'm going to paste in that unicode character. I'm going to also add a space right there, just so we have a little bit of space between the content and our content tag. That is the content, but one other thing we have to do here is we have to bring in the font family. We have to use the Font Awesome font family, and this part's a little tricky and this required me the first time I had to do it on an app ... This took a little bit of debugging because you would think that you could just do something like this ... Where you call Font Awesome, but that technically doesn't work. And their documentation doesn't do a good job of explaining it, so you have to say, Font Awesome and then the version, so we're using version five, and then free. That is a little bit odd. There's also one other trick and this one was very frustrating because there was nothing in the documentation that explained it. But Font Awesome also requires for their free icons, you to only use a certain font weight... CSS FONT FAMILY

08:50
TAKE THE ENTIRE CLASS https://greatercommons.com/learn/how-to-create-a-website font-family Property a prioritized list of font family names Values family-name generic-name serif sans-serif monspace cursive fantasy Description: The font-family CSS property lets you specify a prioritized list of font family names and/or generic family names for the selected element. Values are separated by a comma to indicate that they are alternatives. The browser will select the first font on the list that is installed on the computer or that can be downloaded. Web authors should always add at least one generic family in a font-family list, since there's no guarantee that a specific font is installed on the computer or can be downloaded. The generic family lets the browser select an acceptable fallback font when needed. It is often convenient to use the shorthand property font to set font-size and other font related properties all at once. How to Change Google Fonts in an HTML Newsletter

03:14
Postcards – Drag and Drop Email Template Builder - https://designmodo.com/postcards/ In this video, I will show you how easily and quickly change Google Fonts in an HTML newsletter created in the Postcards application. Imagine you have exported an HTML template from Postcards and changed your mind about the fonts you used; now you want to change typefaces quickly without using the Postcards application. To do this, we'll make a few changes directly in the HTML code. First, open the index.html file and check the font used, it's Open Sans, but I want to change it. I have decided to use Roboto Slab, it's very different from Open Sans because I want to show you the real difference between fonts after the changes. Now go to the Google Fonts website and choose the Roboto Slab, next, click "Select this font", then click "Family selected fonts", and see the details of Roboto Slab. Let's see what styles we need. Here, in our code, we have 3 font styles: light, regular and bold, so I will use the same for my new font. Click the "Customize" tab and select light, regular and bold. You can select all of them, but we'll use only 3, you will see this in a few seconds. Now go back to the "Embed" tab and copy and paste this URL into the browser and open the link. Here we have the list of the styles for Roboto Slab. Back to code editor now, I will change this part of the code with the new part of code from Roboto Slab. Start by copying the "Font Face" code and paste to our editor in exchange of Open Sans font, here we have Roboto Slab in a light style. Next, copy the regular style of the font and paste it into the code editor. Then, copy the bold style of Roboto Slab and overwrite the Open Sans code. Done. We just need to make one more change so that we can see the Roboto Slab font in our newsletter. Change the Open Sans title in the Font Family of the style code directly in HTML, with the name Roboto Slab. Because we have more than 25 Open Sans titles in our HTML file, I will change all of them automatically using the "Replace" feature. So, in my editor, I will choose the "Find" item in the "Menu" and in the dropdown I will choose "Replace" item. I will type "Open Sans" to find this text in our HTML file and replace it with "Roboto Slab," click the replace button and done, you see we have made 26 changes with one click. Let's check this directly in the code, for example here you can see Roboto Slab, and here also is the new font. Ok, save the HTML file. Now, open the browser and let's check our changes, refresh the page and, you can see the Roboto Slab font is live. I like how it looks in my newsletter, very strong. Let's do an experiment now and revert all our changes. Open the code editor and return the Open Sans font to our newsletter. Save the changes and open the browser to check the result. Refresh the page and yes, Open Sans is back, so you can see the changes are live. I have finished this short tutorial, I hope it was useful, and I'll see you for future tutorials.

How to Edit the CSS Styles on Gantry 4 RocketTheme Templates

12:10
Modifying the Joomla template on your site is a breeze if you are using a template from RocketTheme.com (they have a few free ones for use as well.) This tutorial will show you how to easily change the CSS tags on your Gantry 4 RocketTheme Joomla Template. Tools used in the tutorial are: Gantry Template Bundle for Joomla 2.5 + 3.2 - found at: http://www.gantry-framework.org/download And exTplorer file manager for Joomla found at: http://extplorer.net/files SUBSCRIBE TODAY! ► https://goo.gl/N6y5bH ENTER TO WIN! ► https://www.basicjoomla.com/contests FOLLOW US ON TWITTER! ► @basicjoomla LIKE US ON FACEBOOK! ► https://www.facebook.com/basicjoomla I received the request from my client asking for help on modifying the CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) for a template on a site that he is building. He is using a Rocket Theme template. I really like their templates; I like their extensions. One of the things that is super about them is it’s really easy to modify the template itself by changing the CSS. In the back-end of the Basic Joomla site, I'm going to go to "Extensions" and "Template Manager" and I'm going to select the Gantry Template which I have installed. It's this default one, is free and it comes with all the extensions that are needed to run Gantry. So, I'm just going to click here, make it the default, go back to the home page here and "Refresh" and we'll see that the template has changed. Now we're set to try to change this template up. The client is wondering about how to change the "Heading 2" CSS value at tag. If I hit F12 it opens up these developer tools and if I click on this magnifying glass down here, I can then highlight different parts of the template and it will show me over here on the right-hand side which CSS is affecting what. So, I'm going to select the “Welcome header” here and when I click that we see all of the rules, with the beginning rules in the Cascade, to the final ones that are affecting what is seen on the screen. Now the question here is, how to change the size for this title? You'll see "title" is the tag and component-content-heading2, and here we see font size of 28, line-height 30, font-weight normal, letter spacing normal. So, to preview the change of the size of that font we just click in here, and make it 108. Now let's suppose that is the size you want your coding to appear on the title in the template: title component-content-heading2. Well, then you can copy these changes and paste them in a custom CSS page. Go to the back-end of Joomla and I'm going to use a component called EXTplore. It's a file explorer for within your Joomla install, and here it shows the tree of your Joomla install. What you want to do is go to the CSS folder for the template that you are modifying. We're modifying Gantry so we're going to Gantry, double-clicking there, going to go into the CSS folder and here there are some files, and we want to make a file in this folder. I'm going to click here, "new file directory," and am going to give it a name and the taxonomy for the name is the template name, then -custom.css. So, this template is actually named "Gantry-custom." We click create. And then right-click, and we'll edit that. Now it's a blank file, of course. We can head back to the home page where we have the CSS for this title font selected and I'm going to left-click and I'm just going to drag and select all of that. And now I'm going to go "control C" for copy. Now let's go back to that custom file and we'll paste in the CSS. The only thing that we've really changed in all of this is the size. We could change other things. We could change the font weight, we can even add a line to change the color. So, we don't really need this line height change, your font weight, because that's already active, we don't want to change that, we just want to be changing the size. So now I'm going to save that file and we'll go back to the site here and I'm going to refresh the page and we'll see under refresh the letters in that heading remain the same. So, if I hit F12 again, use a magnifying glass, we can select that. Now when we go over we see the CSS that is applied and when we go down we'll see that the size here is changed in this file, "gantry-custom .css." So basically, you find the CSS that is affecting this template, and how its displayed, find the code, copy it after you've made it look the way that you want it to, and then paste it in your custom CSS file. There is also a tool for Firefox called Firebug. It's an extension that you would add on to Firefox, so search for that in extensions. You turn that on also with F12. So that is a really super way to customize the Rocket Theme templates and the CSS. How to use Google Fonts in CSS - CSS tutorial for beginners

10:09
How to use Google fonts in your own project's CSS - Introduction to Advanced CSS Tutorial for beginners || By Learning Simplified In this tutorial, we briefly explained how to use Google fonts in your CSS. All you need to do is to open your browser, go to Google fonts website, and follow the necessary steps as follows : 1. Choose the font you will be working on. If you have selected any font you may search for it in the extreme right corner of your web page. 2. Check out the display by toggling between sentence, paragraph, alphabet, numerals and see whether it is suitable to your project or not. Vary the size if found necessary. 3. Click the + button to add the font to your selection. You may select multi-fonts here. 4. You may copy the link and paste the code in the head tag of the page you wish to use the font just beneath the link to your customized stylesheet.css and every other links those are needed to be loaded first. In this case, I placed the code inside my index.html. 5. Copy the font-family link in the Google fonts site and paste it into the tag, header or paragraph inside your stylesheet.css. 6. You may import the css file from Google fonts and place it inside either your page .html or stylesheet.css. In that case, there are two alternatives.. a. If you are using the @import syntax inside page.html, then first you have to open a style tag in head tag, then you have to place the @import syntax inside this style tag. b. Or you may place this @import syntax directly into your 'stylesheet.css' by placing it above all selectors and class names. No need to introduce any style in this case as you are placing this syntax inside a .css document. 7. Enjoy!!! You need to stay online for usage of Google fonts, else it won't be working. You may download the selected font, but in that case you will have to generate the font in the older process as shown in the previous tutorial as the font downloaded offline will be in a particular .ttf or .otf format. All the details of the procedure is analyzed and shown in the video tutorial below. ==================================================== If you found this video useful, don't forget to share, comment, like and even SUBSCRIBE to stay tuned for more. ===================================================== Thanks for watching this video in advance ==================================================== Stay tuned to our channel to learn more: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNBuByD9iIgqElwmIIqoIiA ===================================================== Watch for relevant blogs at : http://learnsimple1987.blogspot.in/ ===================================================== Our G+ profile is at: https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/108616648678138902856/108616648678138902856 ===================================================== Twit us at: https://twitter.com/learnmaniac1987 ===================================================== watch us at facebook : https://www.facebook.com/learnmaniac1987/ ====================================================== IF YOU LIKED OUR VIDEO, LIKE US, SHARE US, SUBSCRIBE US. jQuery checked selector

Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/03/jquery-checked-selector.html In this video we will discuss the jQuery :checked selector. The :checked selector selects all checked checkboxes or radio buttons. Let us understand this with an example. Selects all checked radio button elements $('input[type="radio"]:checked') Example : When you click the submit button without selecting any radio button, "No radio button checked" message should be displayed. When you click the submit button after a radio button is checked, then a message stating "Male is checked" or "Female is checked" should be displayed. Replace < with LESSTHAN symbol and > with GREATERTHAN symbol. <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#btnSubmit').click(function () { var result = $('input[type="radio"]:checked'); if (result.length > 0) { $('#divResult').html(result.val() + " is checked"); } else { $('#divResult').html("No radio button checked"); } }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> Gender : <input type="radio" name="gender" value="Male">Male <input type="radio" name="gender" value="Female">Female <br /><br /> <input id="btnSubmit" type="submit" value="submit" /> <br /><br /> <div id="divResult"> </div> </body> </html> Selects all checked checkbox elements $('input[type="checkbox"]:checked') Example : When you click the submit button without checking any checkbox, "No checkbox checked" message should be displayed. When you click the submit button after checking a checkbox, then a message stating the number of checkboxes checked and their values should be displayed. <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#btnSubmit').click(function () { var result = $('input[type="checkbox"]:checked'); if (result.length > 0) { var resultString = result.length + " checkboxe(s) checked<br/>"; result.each(function () { resultString += $(this).val() + "<br/>"; }); $('#divResult').html(resultString); } else { $('#divResult').html("No checkbox checked"); } }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> Skills : <input type="checkbox" name="skills" value="JavaScript" />JavaScript <input type="checkbox" name="skills" value="jQuery" />jQuery <input type="checkbox" name="skills" value="C#" />C# <input type="checkbox" name="skills" value="VB" />VB <br /><br /> <input id="btnSubmit" type="submit" value="submit" /> <br /><br /> <div id="divResult"> </div> </body> </html>

CSS - Upgrading HTML Tags with Style: Creating a Website Made Easy

20:00
Lesson on Upgrading HTML Tags to CSS Style from Udemy online course: Creating a Website Made Easy Full course description and 25% discount coupon: http://tharsishighlands.com/online-courses/creating-a-website-made-easy/ Transcript: In this lesson, we will take many of the basic HTML tags and use them as CSS element selectors to upgrade their style. In CSS, the HTML tags are called "elements." BODY First, we start with the [body] tag element (YouTube does not allow angle brackets in description). When you first set up your main CSS file, you typically want to establish the basics for your entire page. These can include, • background-color • background-image • default font-size, color and font-family All of these can be handled in the body element. For example, body { background-color: linen; background-image: url("pix/tree.jpg"); font-family: Vera, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; color: #24425C; } SELECTORS We've already seen a little about CSS syntax. For example, h1 { color: blue; } Each CSS style starts with a selector and is followed by one or more declarations within open and close braces — each declaration being a property-value pair: { property: value } Element selectors select all HTML tags of the same name. For instance, for the [p] tag, p { text-align: center; color: red; } [p]All paragraphs with only the p tag are centered and red. This is a demonstration of how the element selector works.[/p] The ID selector uses the ID attribute of an HTML element to select that specific element. ID is a unique identifier. On any one page, there can be only one of that ID. Also, the ID name cannot start with a numeral. For example, #first_heading { color: red; } [h1 id="first_heading"]This is the First Heading on the Page[/h1] The class selector selects all elements with a specific class attribute. .quote { border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; border-color: #880000; padding: 5px; font-size: 18px; font-style: italic; } Here, we see a class called "quote" which uses larger type, italics and a dark red border. Next, is the HTML which uses that class. [p class="quote"]"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."[/p] A class can be restricted to only one element type. For example, p.first { text-indent: 0px; } This can be helpful if all other paragraphs are given an indent. The first paragraph after a heading can be made flush left. We can also use more than one class at a time. For example, [p class="first quote"]"Houston, we have a problem..."[/p] We've already seen how selectors which share property values can be grouped. h1, h2, h3 { color: steelblue; } In the earlier lesson on the Head section, we learned how to link to an external style sheet — a file with sets of selectors and declarations. For internal CSS, you have the same selector-declaration combinations, but set within open and close [style] tags. [head] [style] body { background-color: darkslateblue; } [/style] [/head] And for inline CSS, you have the same selector-declaration combinations within a style attribute. [p style="text-indent: 50px; color: steelblue;"]This is important text.[/p] Multiple Styles Cascade into One CSS statements have a sequence of priority. The lowest priority of style is the browser defaults. Next are the external and internal style sheets in the head section. Sequence matters, so if you link to your external style sheet after the internal style declarations, the external CSS takes priority over the internal. Finally, the inline style declarations take the highest priority. For all style information that uses the same selectors, the highest priority replaces the lower priorities. For example, External: p { color: blue; text-indent: 30px; } Internal: p { color: green; } Inline: p { color: red; } The final style is: p { color: red; text-indent: 30px; } Background: The following properties control the background of HTML elements. • background-color • background-image • background-repeat • background-attachment • background-position Example: body { background-color: blue; } As we've already learned, colors can be specified, • As Hex — like "#00ffff" • As RGB — like "rgb(0,255,255)" • By name — like "aqua" We will learn more about colors and the new CSS3 color specification in a later lesson. Background Image: The default behavior of a background image is to repeat the image both vertically and horizontally in order to fill the entire background of the element with the selected picture. body { background-image: url("pix/sandbaked.gif"); } [...] In the next lesson, we talk about fonts, tables and links.
