Project Finance vs. Corporate Finance

04:12
Project finance is the financing of long-term infrastructure, industrial projects, and public services, based on a non-recourse or limited recourse financial structure, in which project debt and equity used to finance the project are paid back from the cash flow generated by the project. Corporate finance deals with the capital structure of a corporation including its funding and the actions management take to increase the value of the company. BRICS Bank to Grant First Loans to Green Energy Projects

01:35
The BRICS bank, formally named the New Development Bank (NDB), is likely to appraise the first batch of loan projects proposed by its founding members, the bank's senior officials said at a press conference in Shanghai on Friday. Anton Siluanov, chairman of the Board of Governors of the NDB, said the bank's first batch of projects will focus on clean energy and green infrastructure, while avoiding overlap with the investment projects of other multilateral financial institutions. Siluanov said the bank has been considering expanding its members when the time comes. The BRICS- Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - launched the multi-billion U.S. dollar development bank at the 7th BRICS summit held in the Russian city of Ufa in July last year amid efforts to finance infrastructure projects. "We are preparing for the first batch of projects. We aim to submit the first batch of projects for approval during the board of directors' meeting scheduled in April," said Zhu Xian, the NDB's vice president and chief operations officer who is in charge of loan projects. "Now each founding member has at least one project on my list. However, the projects are still in the preparatory stage and I'm not 100 percent certain that each of the projects will be submitted to the board of directors in April because of technical problems and approval procedures," he added. Zhu said the projects will focus on green and sustainable energy, and each of the projects to be appraised will be valued at more than 100 million U.S. dollars. "The projects proposed by the five members will focus on sustainable energy including wind power, solar power, and hydro power. But nuclear energy is excluded. Each of the projects will be valued at more than 100 million U.S. dollars. Some of the projects will probably be granted loans in local currencies or Renminbi, instead of U.S. dollars," said Zhu. The earlier you start investing, the sooner you can make mistakes and learn from them, and you have a higher risk tolerance. Stefan started from nothing, and has been able to build himself up to a millionaire, at 30 years old. Are you ready to invest in your future? 3 Easy Steps! IRR Internal Rate of Return Lecture on How to Calculate Internal Rate of Return

09:58
OMG wow! Soooo easy I subscribed here http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=mbabullshitdotcom for Internal Rate of Return or IRR. In advance of going deeper into this approach, we need to evaluate the definition of "Rate of Return" (with no "internal" yet). Rate of Return would be the "speed" you are going to earn back profit on an annual basis, every twelve months, endlessly, in contrast to an amount you in the beginning invest. With the intention that it can be compared to the invested bigger sum, this is written just like a percent (%). By way of example, if you invest 100 dollars, and you earn back 3 dollars per annum endlessly, then the "rate of return" is 3%. Trouble-free, is it not? But let us alter the situation somewhat. Suppose, on the same $100 investment previously mentioned, you will definitely make money for a couple of years... and not all in identical amounts in each year? And what if the money coming in will likely stop after a certain number of years? For instance, you are going to get $5 on your 1st year, possibly $8 on your 2nd year, $3 around the third year, and $95 during the fourth year (which could become a final year... so it's not ad infinitum). What is the rate of return now? As you can tell, on this most recent problem, it isn't really easy to find the percentage rate. This is because it's not as simple as in the initial case above for the reason that the annual cash flow is not just a standardizedsum (similar to the $3 in the initial situation above) and it's not without end. This percentage within this newest situation has become popularly known as Internal Rate of Return. Given that it is really not simple to get the percentage, we can easily declare it really is like "a hidden" percent... therefore the term "internal"... due to the reason that the word "internal" is similar to a formal way of expressing "hidden". How is the principle beneficial? If the IRR of your respective undertaking or business enterprise is less than your cost of debt or the total interest rate you would pay to your bank (in case you raise funds money coming from the bank to do the investment or plan), then it is a foul deal. Exactly why? Remember! Because if you will pay 3% to your bank to accomplish a venture or make an investment decision, and then it produces an IRR of only 2%, then you definitely lose 1%. Then again, when your IRR or Internal Rate of Return is above the percentage at which one would borrow from the bank to cover an investment or task, then it is a fine deal, as a result of the helpful "spread" in between your rate of return and cost of debt. Similarly, in case your IRR is the same thing as the interest one would pay to your bank, then you're break-even. This, in summary, is really a simple clarification of IRR. Note that in more difficult problems, you might weigh up your internal rate of return not simply to your cost of debt, but to you cost of equity or weighted average cost of capital or WACC instead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKqzSGMz9Sk what is irr, the internal rate of return, what is internal rate of return, irr, internal rate of return, khan academy, investopedia

Investment Plan flagship project: Ginkgo Fund, Belgium

Europe needs investment to create jobs, make Euro more competitive, to strengthen the single market and support small businesses. A first major initiative of Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission is therefore the Investment plan for Europe. In one year time, it mobilised more than €100 billion of investment, with 249 approved transactions via the European Fund for Strategic Investment (EFSI). This money is aimed at projects that find it difficult to secure finance in the market. With more and more projects being chosen each month, the target of mobilising over €315 billion by 2018, is well underway. Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Financing OBOR and Interrelated Infrastructure Projects

31:05
All video and audio content belong to the respective owners and creators. Media Briefing with Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Cambodia 2017. Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank that aims to support the building of infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region. The bank currently has 87 member states from around the world. The bank started operation after the agreement entered into force on 25 December 2015, after ratifications were received from 10 member states holding a total number of 50% of the initial subscriptions of the Authorized Capital Stock. The United Nations has addressed the launch of AIIB as having potential for "scaling up financing for sustainable development" and to improve the global economic governance. The starting capital of the bank was $100 billion, equivalent to 2⁄3 of the capital of the Asian Development Bank and about half that of the World Bank. The bank was proposed by China in 2013 and the initiative was launched at a ceremony in Beijing in October 2014. It received the highest credit ratings from the three biggest rating agencies in the world, and is seen as a potential rival to the World Bank and IMF. SPEAKER Joachim von Amsberg served as Vice President of Development Finance (DFi) from 2013-16. In this role, he oversaw the strategic mobilization of resources, helping to align the needs of recipients, World Bank Group institutional priorities, and priorities of funding partners through a variety of funding instruments. Von Amsberg was responsible for the replenishment and stewardship of the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank's fund for the poorest, as well as for trust fund and partnership operations, including the trusteeship of financial intermediary funds. He also oversaw the department responsible for monitoring IBRD's financial sustainability and ensuring the effective utilization and prudent management of financial resources. He oversaw the World Bank Group’s Secretariat on Financing for Development (FfD), which works, in partnership with the UN and other multilateral development banks, to identify ways to scale up the resources needed to finance the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals. Von Amsberg, a German national, has held various positions in Washington and in the World Bank’s country offices. From July 2010-January 2013, he served as Vice President for the World Bank’s Operations Policy and Country Services vice presidential unit. In this capacity, von Amsberg led the introduction of the Bank's first new lending instrument in 30 years, as well as a major reform program focused on improving the flexibility of investment lending, strengthening the institution’s support to fragile and conflict-affected states, and implementing a new policy on access to information. Prior to that, he held the post of Country Director for Indonesia, overseeing one of the Bank’s largest country programs and country offices. He supported the government of Indonesia’s efforts to improve the investment climate and service delivery to the poor through stronger governance. He also led the Bank’s relationships and engagement with Indonesia, its government, and other stakeholders, in close collaboration with IFC and MIGA. As Country Director for the Philippines from 2004-2007, von Amsberg led a new World Bank strategy for enhanced support to the Philippines. This strategy supported “Islands of Good Governance,” demonstrating how improved accountability and service delivery would lead to better economic and social outcomes. Under this strategy, World Bank programs were scaled up significantly, aligned more closely with the country’s own priorities, and implemented, as far as possible, through the country’s own systems and institutions. Von Amsberg holds a Ph.D. in Finance and Economic Policy from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada; an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany; and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of British Columbia. http://blogs.worldbank.org/team/joachim-von-amsberg WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM Headquartered in Cologny, the forum also has offices in New York, Beijing and Tokyo. Until 2012, it had observer status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council; it is under the supervision of the Swiss Federal Council. Leda Braga: Data science and its role in investment strategy

33:17
The CEO of Systematica Investments discusses how her company employs technology to achieve returns. As the first financial services industry speaker at the Women in Data Science (WiDS) conference, keynote presenter Leda Braga, CEO of Systematica Investments, introduced attendees to the role of data science applied to investment. Braga’s company manages large pools of assets from pension funds to insurance company premiums, to sovereign wealth funds of various countries. As a hedge fund manager, the company focuses on two areas of investment management – signal generation and portfolio construction. Signal generation is the process of trying to predict what assets should be bought or sold. Portfolio construction is the process of organizing investments strategically to meet investment objectives and achieve returns. Portfolio construction is essentially a constrained optimization problem, Braga notes, and as a result, it is an area where data science can help illuminate the best solutions. At Systematica Investments, the company uses data and algorithms to determine how to maximize financial returns given a number of variables with specific constraints within financial markets and environments. At the end of the day, she says, the business of investment management is the business of information management. Braga believes a passion for data science coupled with an interest in making a difference matters in the field of strategic investing. Worldwide, professionally managed assets are valued at $80 trillion. “If you want to change the world,” she says, “bank your money in the right places. And if you think about investment management as this activity whereby the pools of capital of the world get directed, that is so powerful. And if that is going to become completely data driven over time, you can’t miss that opportunity. You’ve got to join in and have a say.”

With more and more projects being chosen each month, the target of mobilising over €315 billion by 2018, is well underway. Here is the story of Elite Dental Prague. China's One Belt One Road Could Make Or Break This Poor European Country (HBO)

07:14
China’s One Belt One Road initiative could be the most ambitious infrastructure plan in history. With more than $900 billion committed across four continents, it's already the biggest sovereign infrastructure project ever conducted. But it's also a leap of faith towards a goal of reshaping global trade by reconnecting places along the historic Silk Road trade route with new ports, highways and railroads. While most of the projects are concentrated in Asia, China has also extended the initiative beyond its natural sphere of influence. Since 2012, it has made $15 billion worth of infrastructure commitments across central and eastern Europe. For a country like Montenegro, one of Europe’s smallest and poorest, China’s business represents a massive opportunity — and a massive risk. When the Chinese government guaranteed a loan to Montenegro to finance the construction of one 25 mile stretch of its first-ever highway, one condition was that a Chinese state contractor would do 70 percent of the work. But the World Bank believes that the Chinese loan — which Montenegro will pay back between 2020 and 2040 — is a threat to Montenegro’s long-term financial stability. VICE News Tonight traveled to the highway to find out where exactly it's leading.
