Terms of Trade and the Gains from Trade | AP Macroeconomics | Khan Academy

09:56
In this video, we explore how we can use opportunity costs to determine who has comparative advantage in producing a good. By specializing in the production of a good that a country has comparative advantage in, and trading for the other good, both countries have the potential to benefit from the exchange. We can also figure out a trading price (also known as the "terms of trade") which would make both countries willing to trade. The trade routes that threaten biodiversity

03:50
One of the major threats to biodiversity worldwide is international trade. The production of goods for export often involves logging, mining, fishing or other activities that can damage natural habitats. To figure out where the drive for these goods is coming from, researchers traced the production of goods in one country to consumers in another. The maps in this video show how consumers in the US and Japan are endangering animal species in 'threat hotspots' around the world. America's $60 Billion Plan to Counter China Overseas

09:48
A new front in the US-China trade war has opened up and that’s foreign investment. In the beginning of October, President Trump signed the Better Utilization of Investments Leading to Development, or BUILD Act. It combines several smaller government agencies into the new US International Development Finance Corporation, or IDFC with 60 billion dollars to invest in developing nations around the world—mostly in Africa. How the Saudis ended up with so many American weapons

And why they want more. Become a member of the Vox Video Lab! http://bit.ly/video-lab Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Saudi Arabia and the US have a partnership that's been in the making for over seven decades. It started after World War II and survived the Iranian Revolution, the Cold War, the Gulf War, September 11, and the proliferation of conflicts across the Middle East. This whole time, the US has been selling weapons to Saudi Arabia -- now its number one customer. Saudis bought bombs, tanks, guns, and planes over the years to defend themselves from various threats. The US supplied those weapons because the Saudi’s threats have usually been a threat to the US as well. Today, there's a shift in the relationship. Saudi Arabia’s intervention in Yemen has created the worst humanitarian disaster in the world - and thrown the Middle East into chaos. The problem is, the Saudis are using US bombs to do it. Can the €URO surpass the DOLLAR? - VisualPolitik EN

14:19
The Euro is a strange animal amont the currencies. It does not represent a single country but several of them instead: all the members of the so-called Eurozone. So different economies have made so many famous economist such as Milton Friedman or George Soros have severe concerns about the future of this currency. During the financial crisis of 2009, many suggested the possibility of two different euros: a strong one for the rich EU countries and a weaker one for the poor, southern ones. Nonetheless, far from having disappeared, the Euro is one of the most stable and most commonly used currencies in the world. 30% of the international trade is done with it. And the European Central Bank has demonstrated to be as responsible as the American Federal Reserve But… Could the EUR substitute the USD as a reserve currency? What are its advantages against other currencies like the Chinese Yuan? In this video, we will answer to all of this questions. THE US BANKRUPTCY AND THE TRADING WITH THE ENEMY ACT (SOVEREIGN CITIZENS) In this video, I narrate an article written by Mose Washington where he beautifully outlines how the bankruptcy of the United States was conducted and its effect on the American people. Making Trade Easier

08:21
Making trade easier: trade facilitation negotiations at the WTO Through its work on trade facilitation, the WTO aims to achieve a more efficient trade in goods across international borders and to reduce the cost of cross-border trade for the benefit of exporters, importers and consumers. The objective of the negotiations is to clarify and improve three articles of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) relating to the transit of goods, fees and formalities (documentation and procedures) and the transparency of laws and regulations. The aim is to ease border procedures and to facilitate the movement, release and clearance of goods.

No harm in looking. * Willing to do a special video list for (insert band, actor, etc.) if you have something on my ISO (not being mean, but it takes time to clear my space, film, and edit; I just want us to have a good chance of a trade before investing that time) * Trader with lower feedback/confirmation videos sends first

Opportunity cost and comparative advantage using an output table | AP Macroeconomics | Khan Academy

In this video we use the PPCs for two different countries that each produce two goods in order to create an output table based on the data in the graph. We then use the output table to determine the opportunity costs of producing each good. Finally, we determine which country as comparative advantage in each good. Ron Paul @ Google - US foreign policy and trade - part 3

04:50
2008 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul in discussion with Google executive Elliot Schrage as part of the company's [email protected] series. http://youtube.com/watch?v=yCM_wQy4YVg For more about Ron Paul, articles and videos, visit: http://hempsavetheworld.wordpress.com IN THIS VIDEO: Ron Paul explains his positions and views on trade as the means to good foreign relations. He believes the government should not interfere in any social contracts - it's responsibility instead is only to protect people and their contracts. Part 3: How should US foreign relationships be? Ron Paul: We should permit trade - as fast as possible. If it's possible I want low tariffs. Tariffs are taxes and it doesn't tax the wealthy, it taxes the poor person who would like to buy cheap products. Why were you opposed to NAFTA? Ron Paul: Because it's government management of trade for special interests. It's not really free trade. So a company like Google - it going to do business in China - you think it was a good thing for us to begin operations... Ron Paul: That's right. That's your right given by the Constitution and your right in a free society. Your contract is your business [not the government's]. It's the government's responsibility to protect you if someone violates that contract. So clearly then, your position on issues like gay marriage, you're supportive of that? Ron Paul: I'm supportive of all voluntary associations and people can call it whatever they want. Prostitution...? I think that's been around a long time and I'm sure they haven't been able to stamp that out. Again, consistent with the libertarian philosophy: what people do on their own time, so long as it doesn't hurt other people... Ron Paul: That's the rule. === The government today does not simply protect our contracts as it is supposed to - it regulates the contracts and breaks the rules of the free-trade market by not following the rules of contract. The government should not be making legislation to contraol the ways of the free market. The economy will take care of itself. Groups (such as consumer reports) form themselves without the need of legislation. If we didn't depend on the government to take care of us, we would have better consumer protection. Foreign Interests Spent Half A Billion Dollars Influence Our Government Since 2017

03:33
According to a new database put together by Open Secrets, foreign governments and their lobbyist teams have spent more than $500 million since the beginning of 2017 to influence US policy on everything from international conflicts to trade. This money is being spent not to benefit the public here at home, but to benefit foreign interests. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.   Link – https://truthout.org/articles/foreign-interests-have-spent-over-530-million-influencing-us-policy-since-2017/ Support us by becoming a monthly patron on Patreon, and help keep progressive media alive!: https://www.patreon.com/TheRingofFire Spread the word! But there's actually another form of money that influences our politics on a daily basis that few people talk about, but luckily OpenSecrets, based on research put together by the Sunlight Foundation, they have created a new database. They've actually taken it over from the Sunlight Foundation that tracks foreign money in the United States and how that influences our elections. And according to them, since the start of the year 2017, so we're talking what, 18, 19 months now, more than $500 million has been spent by foreign nationals and foreign agents on lobbying and other activities to directly influence the United States government. The grand total, I believe is a little more than ... It's $534 million since the start of 2017 that foreign governments have been paying their lobbyist and their officials to come over here, lobby the US government to enact policies that benefit that foreign country. Keep in mind, these are not any policies that are going to benefit Americans in any way. If anything, given what some of these countries are asking for, it could put more American lives at risk, be they military members or even private contractors going over to foreign countries. We get no benefit whatsoever from this money that foreign nationals are spending to influence our government. And here's the plot twist, do you know who the biggest spender is out of the last 18, 19 months? The country that spent the most money lobbying the United States? South Korea. Number two was Japan. Now four Middle Eastern countries including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, they also cracked the top 10, and we know exactly what they want the United States to do. But it is odd that the top two are South Korea and Japan. Now we know what South Korea wants us to do. They want us to bolster them with military should something happen with North Korea. They do live in fear of what this madman that lives to the north could eventually do, what he would do. Talks between the two countries, between the three countries, between every country with North Korea always sem to fall part no matter who was making that negotiation, so yeah. They want the United States to be able to step in and flex our military muscle, put our guys' lives at risk to protect them. It's a noble cause, but at the same time, not necessarily one that the United States really needs to be involved in. We attempted that before and it didn't end well. Nonetheless, these foreign governments that are sending their people over here to lobby our government are doing it because they have a financial stake in the outcome. They want the US to go over and protect them. They want the US to enact trade deals that benefit that country. They want the US to give up everything they can because it's gonna make those politicians a lot of money. It's gonna make the government a lot of money. It's gonna make the other country a lot of money. And in the end, as always, the only person who gets screwed out of anything is the average American worker.

For All The Jural Assemblies Part 28 - Global Municipal Jurisdiction By Anna Von Reitz

To support Anna's work look for the PayPal button on www.annavonreitz.com For All The Jural Assemblies Part 28 - Global Municipal Jurisdiction By Anna Von Reitz We could also call this section "From Trade to Commerce". When we engage in "peaceful national and international trade", this is a private and natural right held under our own authority. This is the realm in which we are supposed to use our "Good Name" also known as "Given Name" also known as "Trade Name" --- the name that our Fathers and Mothers gave us at birth. We are naturally unincorporated and sovereign entities when we stand on the land and soil of our geographically defined states/States; however, when we venture into the international jurisdiction of the sea or upon the navigable inland waterways to engage in trade with corporations or people from other countries, we are considered to be acting as "Foreign Situs Trusts" temporarily under the care of the British Monarch who owes us safe passage, aid and assistance --- so long as we are claiming our birthright political status as American State Nationals or American State Citizens. If, however, we allow ourselves to be misrepresented as Federal Citizens of any sort, no such guarantees apply; the same Name applied to a Federal Citizen may be mistaken for a "stateless Person" --- and stateless Persons can be attacked, salvaged, and plundered under the Laws of the Sea. So, how does this work? All Federal Citizens are "stateless Persons" of one kind or another, because their "states" are all "inchoate states" --- incomplete, non-physical, incorporated franchises of ---from our perspective, foreign governments and foreign commercial corporations. These corporate franchises are foreign first and foremost because they are not functioning as people. They are functioning as legal fiction "Persons". The instant that your State National political status is stolen from you as a baby, and your Good Name is misidentified as that of a "US Citizen", you are labeled as a "Federal Citizen" and deprived of all the protections and guarantees and property rights you are heir to. You and your estate can be pillaged and salvaged, and the Queen, who is supposed to be acting as your Protector won't say a thing; indeed, she will laugh all the way to the bank. This is because Federal Citizens have no Natural and Unalienable rights and their inchoate States (properly called "States of States") are not Parties to our Constitutions and other Treaties with Great Britain. Only the actual geographically-defined States and physical People have access to the constitutional guarantees as intended. States of States and Incorporated Persons are not generally "covered" by these agreements. So when we claim our proper birthright political status as American State Nationals or American State Citizens, our business is our own on the land and soil of our State, and when we venture out in the wider world, we are under the protection of the British Queen. Is EUROPE ending PROTECTIONISM in AGRICULTURE? - VisualPolitik EN

15:37
Despite living in a globalizad economy, where international trade is the norm and most of the products we use daily are manufactured abroad, agriculture is the still an island of protectionism. Farms are extremely protected all over the world. Is not easy to find a country that has no tariffs, subsidies or quotas for their Primary sector. In Europe, the Common Agricultural Policy –also known as CAP—means over 72 billion USD to the European budget. But the Brexit has become a turning point to this. Since Great Britain was one of the biggest net contributor to CAP, Brussels must cut a lot of those subsidies and, gradually, starting a liberalization. Are we witnessing the end of the CAP in Europe? Could this be a model for other countries? Shall we see an end for agriculture protectionism all over the world? Hennebach Guest Lecture Series: Rising Economic Powers and the Global Economy

01:22:37
A small group of developing countries are transforming the global economic landscape. Led by China, India and Brazil, these rising economic powers pose varied challenges and opportunities for U.S. economic interests and leadership of the global economy. As these fast- growing and large economies account for rising shares of global GDP, manufacturing, and trade in commodities, the balance of global economic power is shifting away from the United States and Europe. The rising economic powers also raise significant policy issues regarding the direction of U.S. trade policy and negotiations, the multilateral institutions that have served as the foundation of an open and rules-based world economy and the availability of natural resources and commodities in the future. Mr. Raymond Ahearn is the Head of the International Trade and Finance Section at the Congressional Research Service (CRS). In this capacity, he supervises the work of 10 analysts who provide research and support to Congress on international policy issues. Mr. Ahearn began his career in the Economics Division of CRS in 1975. In 1988 he assumed the position of Spe- cialist in Trade Relations in the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Division of CRS and in 1998 he began his current assignment. During 1993-1994 he served as Director of Trade Strategy for Japan in the Office of the United States Trade Representative. During his CRS career, he has authored a number of reports on bilateral and multilateral trade issues. His most recent reports include U.S.-European Union Trade Relations: Policy Challenges and Issues and Trade and the Americas. In addition to CRS reports, he has also written a number of articles that have been published in books, journals, and newspapers. Mr. Ahearn received a B.A. in political science from Union College (Schenactady, N.Y.) in 1971, an M.A. from the Johns Hopkins School for Ad- vanced International Studies (SAIS) in 1973, and an M.A. in economics from George Washington University in 1980. Cultural difference in business | Valerie Hoeks | TEDxHaarlem

12:18
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. One of the elements of the cultural difference between Europe and China is the importance that is given to relationships. In the West you would assume the importance to be the same, but there is a significant distinction. In China connections with the right people help you to get things done, to survive and to succeed. Whereas in the West content is predominant, in China the way people interact with each other strongly influences the working environment. 'Face' and long-term effects are taken into consideration. Valérie Hoeks (1982) studied Sinology at the Leiden University and has been active in China for over a decade as a traveller, a student and later as an entrepreneur. As soon as she set foot on Chinese soil she knew she would come back many times. In 2010 Valérie co-founded China Inroads in collaboration with with her Dutch and Chinese business partner. China Inroads provides a strong foothold for innovative companies that want to expand their business to the Chinese market. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
