If you’re not interested, don’t watch. Please only leave positive feedback in the comments. I was so nervous to upload this, and had to refilm it after the first time resulted in out of focus footage. I’ve tried to edit this to be as concise as possible but there was a lot I wanted to cover and I didn’t want to split it into two videos since I feel my personal experiences are closely connected to the advice I have to share. So no hard feelings to anyone who skips around through the video or skips it entirely, this one is definitely for a specific audience that might not include all of my subscribers. I think you all will understand. This is a subject that is very personal and that I care very deeply about. Everyone has a right to be happy. In fact, here in the US, it’s part of our founding documents, the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” My journey to be happy has been long and ongoing and I can definitely say that while I still deal with anxiety and depression I am happier now than I’ve been in recent years. If you would like to share your experiences in the comments I would be very interested to read them. If you have done a similar video on your channel please feel free to link it below. Stress Management - Permanent Solutions For Stress Reduction

Stress Management - How stress works, where it comes from, and practical solutions for permanent reduction. The Ultimate Life Purpose Course - Create Your Dream Career: http://www.actualized.org/life-purpose-course Leo's Top 140 Self Help Books http://www.actualized.org/books Full Video Transcript Here: http://www.actualized.org/articles/stress-management Video Summary: Stress is one of the most common problems of modern life. Stress is an emotional and chemical response to stimuli around us, but the problem lies inside our heads. Stress is most often associated with lack of time or money, or by relationships at work, home, or with family. Achieving better emotional control helps some folks handle stress much better than others, but some situations are inherently more stressful than others. Ideally, the long-term solution to stress is to overhaul your attitude via personal development work. But while you're working on that, there are some strategies to help you cope in the short-term. If your stress originates from too little money, the logical answer is to get a better-paying job. Too little time: slow down, prioritize, be realistic, and focus. Multi-tasking is a crazy-making oxymoron. If your stress originates in your relationships, stop blaming other people; stop trying to control other people; and focus on your own life and its direction. The best solution over-all for dealing with stress in the short-term is to know your values and your life's purpose and to stay grounded in yourself. Against the Odds: Children and Families Coping with Extreme Stress

54:59
BRUCE COMPAS: Against the Odds: Children and Families Coping with Extreme Stress Exposure to stress is one of the most potent risk factors for the development of problems in physical and mental health. In spite of the costs associated with stress, many individuals and families “beat the odds” and display resilience in the face of significant adversity. This talk will draw from our ongoing research at Vanderbilt with families coping with a range of powerful stressors---the diagnosis of childhood cancer, living with the chronic challenges of sickle cell disease, and the ongoing stress associated with a parent’s depression. A focus of this research is the development of programs to help vulnerable families develop the skills and resources needed to overcome the challenges associated these significant stressors and move on the path toward resilience. Bruce Compas is Patricia and Rodes Hart Professor of Psychology and Human Development and Professor of Pediatrics. Since coming to Vanderbilt in 2002 he has served as the Director of the Doctoral Training Program in Clinical Psychology and Director of Psychology in the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center. His research is currently funded by grants from the National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Mental Health, and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles on the effects of stress on children and families, including the impact of stress and illness on children’s cognitive and brain development, and the development and testing of programs to help children and parents effectively cope with stress. He is ranked by Microsoft Academic as the 93rd most cited author world wide out of over 850,000 authors in psychology and psychiatry. Therapy for Mothers Coping with Stress; The Basis of Psychological Health and Fulfillment

44:47
This audio tape, by Dr. Max Hammer, discusses the importance of families and friends helping mothers of infants and young children emotional support, comfort, and relief, in coping with stress. Furthermore, this video also discusses the basis of developing psychological health and fulfillment. The compassionate insights presented in this audio tape by the late Dr. Max Hammer should be helpful for people who are coping with stress, emotional hurt, and inner conflict, as well as people who are seeking to develop significantly greater levels of inner peace, happiness, creative insight and inspiration, meaningful self-understanding and self-unification, healthy mature and fulfilling psychological development, nonsectarian spiritual awakening, and/or seeking to develop fulfilling interpersonal relationships, with true love, good communication, and empathic experiential intimacy, as well as applying similar principles as a way of compassionately transforming society for the better. Furthermore, this discussion should also be helpful to psychotherapists, counselors, life coaches, social workers, clergy involved in pastoral counseling, as well as other human services professionals. Dr. Hammer's insights are truly experiential, heartfelt, deeply sincere, and useful, not just theoretical or speculative. For a more extensive, in-depth discussion of Dr. Max Hammer’s insights in psychology, spirituality, and interpersonal relationships, see his two published books (with secondary contributing authors Dr. Barry J. Hammer and Dr. Alan C. Butler): 1) Psychological Healing Through Creative Self-Understanding and Self-Transformation (ISBN: 978-1-62857-075-5; Houston: Strategic Book Publishing, 2014). 2) Deepening Your Personal Relationships: Developing Emotional Intimacy and Good Communication (ISBN: 978-1-61897-590-4; Houston: Strategic Book Publishing, 2014). Stress Management Relief : https://tinyurl.com/yc4wnees subscribe here : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW5dv3iOOSX4PLfFHdtYRIQ It may seem like there’s nothing you can do about stress. The bills won’t stop coming, there will never be more hours in the day, and your work and family responsibilities will always be demanding. But you have a lot more control than you might think. In fact, the simple realization that you’re in control of your life is the foundation of stress management. Stress management is all about taking charge: of your lifestyle, thoughts, emotions, and the way you deal with problems. No matter how stressful your life seems, there are steps you can take to relieve the pressure and regain control. Why is it important to learn how to manage stress? If you’re living with high levels of stress, you’re putting your entire well-being at risk. Stress wreaks havoc on your emotional equilibrium, as well as your physical health. It narrows your ability to think clearly, function effectively, and enjoy life. Effective stress management, on the other hand, helps you break the hold stress has on your life, so you can be happier, healthier, and more productive. The ultimate goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun—and the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on. But stress management is not one-size-fits-all. That’s why it’s important to experiment and find out what works best for you. The following stress management tips can help you do that. Tip 1: Identify the sources of stress in your life Stress management starts with identifying the sources of stress in your life. This isn’t as straightforward as it sounds. While it’s easy to identify major stressors such as changing jobs, moving, or a going through a divorce, pinpointing the sources of chronic stress can be more complicated. It’s all too easy to overlook how your own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors contribute to your everyday stress levels. Sure, you may know that you’re constantly worried about work deadlines, but maybe it’s your procrastination, rather than the actual job demands, that is causing the stress. To identify your true sources of stress, look closely at your habits, attitude, and excuses: Do you explain away stress as temporary (“I just have a million things going on right now”) even though you can’t remember the last time you took a breather? Do you define stress as an integral part of your work or home life (“Things are always crazy around here”) or as a part of your personality (“I have a lot of nervous energy, that’s all”)? Do you blame your stress on other people or outside events, or view it as entirely normal and unexceptional? Until you accept responsibility for the role you play in creating or maintaining it, your stress level will remain outside your control. visit my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW5dv3iOOSX4PLfFHdtYRIQ stress management activities, stress management articles, stress management classes, stress management definition, stress management group activities, stress management quotes, stress management skills, stress management strategies, stress management techniques, stress management worksheets,

Registered associate working under supervisor Stress: Portrait of a killer https://youtu.be/eYG0ZuTv5rs http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/07/05/stress-effects.aspx Over the last three decades, science has been advancing our understanding of stress-how it impacts our bodies and how our social standing can make us more or less susceptible. From baboon troops on the plains of Africa, to neuroscience labs at Stanford University, scientists are revealing just how lethal stress can be. Research reveals that the impact of stress can be found deep within us, shrinking our brains, adding fat to our bellies, even unraveling our chromosomes. Yet understanding how stress works can help us figure out ways to combat it and how to live a life free of the tyranny of this contemporary plague. In Stress: Portrait of a Killer, scientific discoveries in the field and in the lab prove that stress is not a state of mind, but something measurable and dangerous. (National Geographic)

Is Social Media Hurting Your Mental Health? | Bailey Parnell | TEDxRyersonU

14:45
Scrolling through our social media feeds feels like a harmless part of our daily lives. But is it actually as harmless at seems? According to social media expert Bailey Parnell, our growing and unchecked obsession with social media has unintended long term consequences on our mental health. As social media continues to become part of the fabric of modern life – the “digital layer” – abstinence is becoming less of an option. Bailey think it’s high time we learned to practice safe social before it’s too late. What are the common triggers? How are they affecting you over time? How can you create a more positive experience online? Bailey covers this and more in “Is Social Media Hurting Your Mental Health?” Bailey Parnell was recently named one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women. She is an award-winning digital marketer, public speaker and businesswoman with a talent for helping people tell better stories. Her work and expertise have been featured on CBC, CTV & in other local Toronto media. Bailey recently founded SkillsCamp, a soft skills training company where they help people develop the essential skills needed for professional success. She also currently works in digital marketing at Ryerson University. Bailey is a frequent public speaker having spoken to more than 10 thousand people. She primarily speaks about social media, personal branding, and media and mental health. She guest lectured her first MBA class at 21-years-old and has been the youngest speaker as multiple academic conferences. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Communication and Culture with a research focus on social media and mental health, and holds an honours BA from the RTA School of Media at Ryerson. A JAPANESE METHOD TO RELAX IN 5 MINUTES

How to relieve stress? While a certain amount of stress in our lives is normal and even necessary, excessive stress can interfere with normal daily activities and take a toll on our personal lives and health. Today we at Bright Side invite you to try an ancient Japanese technique of self-relaxation that will not take you more than 5 minutes and can be done just about anywhere. To practice the technique, it is important to understand that each of the fingers of our hand represents a different feeling or attitude. The index can help you combat fear. The middle finger helps you control anger and resentment. - The ring finger can help you fight depression and sadness. Also, it’s responsible for making you more decisive. And the pinky helps to calm anxiety and increases optimism and confidence. This finger represents self-esteem. - To harmonize the life energy in the body, grasp the finger with the opposite hand, wrapping all the fingers and thumb around it. Now hold each finger for one to two minutes. - If you want to calm your mind, slightly press in the center of the palm with the thumb of the opposite hand and hold it for at least one minute. - Practice this technique every day to stay calm and re-establish the balance within yourself. How To Relieve Stress - Scientifically Proven Stress Relief Techniques

17:36
How To Relieve Stress - The absolute best ways to reduce your stress permanently and how to avoid gimmicks that don't work. The Ultimate Life Purpose Course - Create Your Dream Career: http://www.actualized.org/life-purpose-course Leo's Top 140 Self Help Books http://www.actualized.org/books Full Video Transcript Here: http://www.actualized.org/articles/how-to-relieve-stress Video Summary: Up to a point, stress is an unavoidable part of living. It has become more problematic as our modern world becomes more complex and frantic. To fail to acknowledge your role in creating the stress in your life will simply amplify it. Review what choices you've made, and whether you want to retract any of them for the sake of reducing your stress exposure. Stress tends to be reduced once we simply accept our choice to live with the stress-inducing situation, rather than pursue some alternative action. Positive, constructive ways to deal with stress include most notably meditation, sports, music, reading, and creative hobbies. Self-destructive, unhealthy methods for dealing with stress are easy to identify. Even innocuous-looking methods of stress relief can become a crutch that steals your quality of life and creates guilt and recrimination. Less obviously destructive diversions such as video games, the internet, and TV create a low consciousness that disengages you from your mission in life. Proactively exam what is causing the greatest stress in your life. If you choose to "just live with it," identify positive ways to mitigate that stress. Evaluate what negative stress reducing technique to eliminate to improve the quality of your life.

Coping with Mental and Emotional Depression - Great Lecture, Manly P Hall

01:22:16
A Must Listen ! One of the greatest lectures on one of the major problems surfacing on our world today, the common and widespread situation of mental and emotional dispositions. Why do we get depressed ? Why does life seem so difficult at times? Manly Palmer Hall puts it excellently into words. '' Manly Palmer Hall was a Canadian-born author and mystic. He is perhaps most famous for his work The Secret Teachings of All Ages: An Encyclopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic and Rosicrucian Symbolical Philosophy, which is widely regarded as his magnum opus, and which he published at the age of 27. He has been widely recognized as a leading scholar in the fields of religion, mythology, mysticism, and the occult. In 1934, Hall founded the Philosophical Research Society (PRS) in Los Angeles, California, dedicating it to an idealistic approach to the solution of human problems. The PRS claims to be non-sectarian and entirely free from educational, political, or ecclesiastical control, and the Society's programs stress the need for the integration of philosophy, religion, and science into one system of instruction. The PRS Library, a public facility devoted to source materials in obscure fields, has many rare and scarce items now impossible to obtain elsewhere. In 1973 (47 years after writing The Secret Teachings of All Ages), Hall was recognized as a 33º Mason (the highest honor conferred by the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite), at a ceremony held at PRS on December 8th, despite never being initiated into the physical craft. In his over 70-year career, Hall delivered approximately 8,000 lectures in the United States and abroad, authored over 150 books and essays, and wrote countless magazine articles. http://www.manlyphall.org/ ''

Inside Out and Emotional Health

02:33
Related article: Inside Out and Emotional Health http://thecreativemind.net/1885/inside-out-and-emotional-health/ The animated movie "Inside Out" tells the story of a young girl, Riley, who has to leave her Midwest life behind when her family moves to San Francisco. Characters depict her primary emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness - and the inner conflicts they cause her, as well as her parents, who have their own inner conflicts to deal with. The movie was named "Best Animated Feature" at the 2016 Oscars. In her review for Counseling Today magazine, Erin Shifflett writes: "A person’s mind is a mysterious labyrinth of thoughts, feelings, memories, ideas and compulsions; the mind of a young girl is likely even more complex. "Disney-Pixar’s latest animated offering, Inside Out, bravely delves into that intricate world in a way that effectively captures the nuances of the way people feel and think—and maybe helps them understand why they act the way they do sometimes. "Developed with the guidance of University of California, Berkeley psychologist Dacher Keltner, the film tells the tale of Riley, an 11-year old whose family relocates from Minnesota to San Francisco. "Through the move, Riley loses her friends and beloved hockey team and is forced to transition to a place where pizza is served with broccoli as a topping and the cool girls in school wear eye shadow, much to Riley’s surprise." Shifflett describes the role of the "five emotions operating at Headquarters (Riley’s brain): Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger. ... "The importance of Sadness and, indeed, the other less pleasant emotions such as Fear, Disgust and Anger, is highlighted multiple times throughout the film when their roles and functions are explained." From Emotion, personified: What “Inside Out” gets right about mental health By Erin Shifflett June 25, 2015. Inside Out was named "Best Animated Feature" at the 2016 Academy Awards. Producers and director Pete Docter said in his acceptance speech: "This film was really born from watching our kids grow up, which is not easy! "Anyone out there who's in junior high, high school, working it out, suffering - there are days you're going to feel sad. You're going to feel angry. You're going to feel scared. That's nothing you can choose. "But you can make stuff. Make films. Draw. Write. It will make a world of difference." The Attachment Theory - How Your Childhood Affects Your Relationships

07:36
The attachment theory argues that a strong emotional and physical bond to one primary caregiver in our first years of life, is critical to our development. If our bonding is strong and we are securely attached, then we feel safe to explore the world. If our bond is weak, we feel insecurely attached. We are afraid to leave or explore a rather scary-looking world. Because we are not sure if we can return. Often we then don't understand our own feelings. For those who feel like they can’t help themselves, or can’t find trust through their partners of family, we recommend looking for professional support through a therapy. If you are able to form a secure attachment to a therapist, he can become the one who provides you with that secure base. Here three of possible therapies: 1. Psychoanalysis. The aim of psychoanalysis therapy is to release repressed emotions and experiences, i.e., make the unconscious conscious. In order to do that they therapist might try to bring back some childhood memories, to work at the root cause of the problem. 2. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). CBT is a psycho-social intervention that is widely used for improving mental health. Instead of trying to bring you back in time, it aims to explain you whats going on inside your brain and how to cope with irrational feelings or fears. 3. The Hoffmann Process. This 7-8 days guided process, designed by the American psychologist Hoffmann, brings participants back into their childhood to reconnect with their parents at the time when attachment is formed. Its very intensive. 01:09:26
Over the past century we have developed technologies, such as mobile phones, that pose a direct threat to our future health, but there is an equally harmful radiation that comes from the earth and could be responsible for many of the health problems facing the modern world. It is called 'Geopathic Stress'. This documentary looks at the effect of geopathic stress and electromagnetic radiation on our health. For the first time ever, a link is established between them. This ground-breaking documentary is a wake-up call for the modern medical and scientific establishments and also for anyone who has an interest in their own health. http://www.positiveenergy.ie/articles/geopathic-stress-lines-linked-to-illness
